Next jersey I get?

Maybe Michalek...probably not since I only get a new jersey once every four or so years and I just only got around to Crosby last year...but...next t-shirt...**** yeah.

Not a bad choice. When you are dropping up to several hundred dollars on a jersey you want to know the guy will likely be around, for a while anyways, and unlikely to be gone next trade deadline or the one after. That is one reason I go for guys like Crosby, Malkin or Fleury. I could easily see all three Pens for life. Michalek does have a a limited no-trade clause, so is a safer bet than most to get you to the end of that contract anyways, even with so much defensive talent bubbling up in the minors. And if you want to differentiate from the rest of us lemmings wearing the same old jerseys, he is a cool guy to have a jersey of.

Last time I was in town (January) I picked up a couple shirt jerseys. Letang for myself and Michalek for my roommate (who has seen roughly 3 hockey games in his life). The only reason my roommate got the Michalek shirt was because they only had one remaining at the Pens shop I was at...and it was too small for me.

I'd been meaning to get something Letang related for a long time, so...eh.

So...Penguins shirts I've bought so far...Gonchar, Orpik, Letang, Michalek...hmmm...sensing a trend there.

I've been thinking of getting a Michalek jersey for all the reasons you listed. Except for a slight tweak on the last one ... i already own Crosby, Staal, and Lemieux jerseys, so the lemming i'm trying to differentiate from is myself

Nothing not to like about Z. He ended up being everything he was advertised to be.

Sometimes his insistence on blocking shots actually stops the goalie from getting to make a save. His sliding around, while effective a lot of the time, can occasionally get in the way of a goalie and stop him from getting to saveable shot. I'd also like him to be more physical with the frame he's got, but I'm splitting hairs really. For 4 million, you can't complain!

And a little more, IMO. I think the guy has a little bit to be had offensively. Once he got comfortable with this system, he was scoring goals and the whole bit. I'm excited about the next could years with him.

And that first pass - even in tight quarters - is always right on the money.

I feel sad that soon, my name will no longer contain part of his name. How am I supposed to deal with this? Sure Chichi Vitale is good... but I will miss the Z. If Z starts dishing out some extra free candy this year he will instantly replace Orpik as my favorite D. Then I'll be up the creek because I won't be able to change my name again until next summer.

Any chance the mods would like to give me unlimited name change capability?

Dudes a beast, and one of the hardest workers in the NHL I think. He's easy to like.

His first pass is ridiculous. That's why I think both he and Martin have good potential of putting up a few more points when they have a 2nd line that's rolling. Very rarely does a breakout pass make me take notice, but Michalek had one to Malkin towards the beginning of the season where I was dumbfounded. It seemingly went through 3 players, and not only landed on Geno's tape, but landed on Geno's tape in stride. Ryan Whitney who?

I also think his shot is vastly underrated.
