@andystrickland Nice guess. Iíve been around hockey since 1978 and never heard of you. #Rangers #NYR #NHL
I never liked Carp, and this seals it for me.

Also i agree that Brad Richards is definitely in the running for a top 20 overall player in the league.
There have to be at least 5 D and 5 G who are better players. So once again, that means he is a top 10 F. Just don't see that.

Oh weh, I meant overall forward. I don't like comparing d-men and goalies with forwards.

Carp replacing Sam was a huge travesty. Reading his recent tweets, he criticises the Richards move as Drury 2.0 and then sucks up to him with a congratulatory tweet saying he looks forward to covering him. Idiot.

Fair enough. When you said 'overall player' I assumed you were including all players.

Try not to get too carried away with this signing dude. We are married to him for 9 yrs(he'll probably be useless after year #4 and there will be a revolt amongst us not blinded by our loyalty ranger fans) and he is getting paid major bucks all for a player who "IS NOT ELITE." I wish him luck and I hope his running mate Maryjane decides to show up and compete on a regular basis this year. Time will tell-these ridiculous contracts are the lay of the land nowadays.

My bad...but, you're right, he sucks and he has the worst blog regarding Ranger hockey out of all of the Ranger beat writers.

Come on. 6.67M is a reasonable cap hit for a player of his talent. And he's not going to play here for 9...or even 7 years. We can worry about what to do with him 5 years from now. If we found a way to extricate ourselves from Gomez/Redden/Drury we can do the same with Richards.

Leafs offered a 6 year deal with a higher annual average salary. Richards wanted the term and to play for John Tortorella. About to sign now

This has the potential to be a great story. Took less money to play for a coach he loves and respects. Wins a cup with him again.

Get us that winger and lets go for Lord Stanley!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't think the the Rangers offer was actually less money than the Leafs.

If the Leafs were offering $8m for 6 years, you have a $48m contract. The first 6 years on the Rangers deal is probably over $50m.
