What Now?

Richards signing with The Rangers was the last chance the Leafs had to acquire a #1C for the season. Where does Burke go from here?

A trade would be costly, after years of not having any prospects in the system does he bankrupt the franchise to get that number #1 C? Or does he sit tight and wait for Kadri or Colborne to develop?

Seems to me there isn't much out there, TB will match any offer sheet Leafs fwd to Stamkos, Connelly and Arnott are not the answer. The 2011-12 season looks challenging now that all the eastern teams are upgraded.

A high pick in a superb draft class is the only viable solution. Fact is the Leafs are exactly the team they were at the end of the 2010-11 season minus Brent and Giguere. Liles is a nice add but this was a minor move.

Look for a difficult season ahead, unless Burke mortages draft picks and prospects for immediate help.

Lottery pick perhaps, one that hopefully we'll hold onto.

Tim Connolly and enough duct tape to hold him together.

He has to do something. He can't miss the playoffs for the 4th straight year as GM.

Gagne for 2 years.
Connolly for 1 year.
Maybe Drury for 1 year.

Hopefully.

Offer sheet Stamkos. I'd rather do that then trade for a player. I liuke the assets we have vs the picks we'd have to give up.

Now the question is, do we ahve the piucks necassary to offer sheet him?

Not even close to the "last chance".

Just the last UFA chance. I think Connolly could in fact provide a solid 1st line C role for us, and work well with Kessel.

We still have Kadri and Colborne as our top prospects. Grabovski is just as good a #1C as a guy like Weiss would be. Leafs are not any further away from getting a center for Kessel than they were yesterday.

And we're not getting Stamkos, just give it up.

Myth: Burke doesn't do offer sheets

Every thread seems to be populated with the tank morons today. Why is that?

I've heard rumblings that there is a Plan B so we will have to wait and see.

People need to stop talking about offersheeting. Tampa will match and that will eliminate any chance at us getting Stamkos. If Burke is serious about getting Stamkos, he'll look to go via trade.

This silly win-right-now sentiment is exactly what got us into all this trouble in the first place.

Yea, you know the people with their tank posts are really ruining a great message board to a lot of people. It is NOT ok to lose and miss the playoffs.

Leave the team as it is and hope we suck enough for a lottery pick.
