Our Top Line Has 3 Right Handed Shooters Thread

this worries me...a little. i know that your gonna say that this is not a problem at the high skill set NHL level, but it's worth mentioning. i think maybe a positive thing out of this is that Phaneuf can jump in and cross over on the left side to blow shots past goalies.

what do you think?

ps - i like the connolly signing. this is a posi-thread. i am trying to see the good in this situation.

Kulemin, Grabovski and MacArthur are all left-handed shots and it didn't seem to hurt them last season.

whoa! interesting point. now that we have a 1C to trade, we could end up with our ultimate guy instead of the 2nd best Center in the UFA 11 frenzy.

hmm...

someone on Anaheim or the Sharks perhaps?

This again?

Yeah, I'm sure Anaheim GM has sleepless nights because he has three right handed shots on his first line...

it would be better for Kessel is his C was left handed, but other than that I have no problem with it

In reality lines will likely get shuffled. If Connolly and Kessel don't have chemistry they will need to shuffle. Someone has to get Kessel going.

I could also see Kule and Lupul getting switched at some point.

Both are playing off their natural wing. I would hate to mess with Kule and Grabos chemistry but Kulie did look pretty good with Kessel a couple of years ago and Mac and Lupul were team mates back in jr.

HTML on the Sharks works fine, all lefties. Clowe-Couture-Heatley worked great, all lefties, Wellwood-Pavelski-Mitchell worked great, all righties. Not a big deal.

Kluemin looked really good with Kessel two season ago and they had some chemistry when they were put together a few times last season but I wouldn't want to mess with the second line chemistry. However, if both lines are struggling by all means switch Kluemin and Lupul.

The entire Soviet national team from the late 80s were left hand shots.

to be fair, i think anyone who plays along side kulemin will play better . he seems to have chemistry with anyone lol.

this is true

also, noticed by watching the red wings last year almost all the players were lefties except rafalski

found an interesting article, says americans are more likely to shoot right because they begin playing hockey at an older age
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/16/sp...s/16lefty.html

i found this argument valid
when i was a kid, i played street hockey for years with immigrant kids who all started near the age of 10-14 (relatively old) and we all shot right handed

Ryan - Getzlaf - Perry: All right-handed shooters

Sedin - Sedin - Burrows: All left-handed shooters

Heatley - Thornton - Marleau: All left-handed shooters (not a top line any more, but a year ago they were pretty beast)

And someone's already pointed out that Kulemin - Grabovski - MacArthur is full of lefties.

..Having everyone on the same line shooting the same way isn't an issue at all. I thought it was stupid when TSN reported it about Versteeg, Bozak, and Kessel, and I still think that it doesn't matter.

Interesting comment, I didn't see any other thread to put it in:

Quote:
MacArthur realizes Connolly has been pencilled in to centre Phil Kessel and Joffrey Lupul. Still ...

Id love the chance but you know what? Hell be great with Phil. They will make a really good combo, MacArthur said in a phone interview on Saturday night.
http://www.torontosun.com/2011/07/02...nnolly-signing

It looks like Mac is still leaning on sticking with the Leafs, if anyone was worried...

kulemin is the perfect prototypical player.

Good shot
good passing
good in front of the net
good forecheck
good defensively
Has chemistry with anyone.
