Toronto has yet to sign anyone since the free agency period opened Friday at noon. Nonis said the money or length of term on the10 players or so that they were interested in, went beyond what made sense for his club.

He will give Frattin a chance to play with Bozak/Kadri and Armstrong on the third line, similar to how JVR played with the Flyers before stepping into a larger role.

Sorry. I meant to state that I believe he will start in the minors. I think this is indicative of how Burke has handled similar players in the past.

It looks like the years on a deal are more important to Connolly than salary.

Ugh. Only way id be OK with signing Connolly is if it is 1 year. Injured far too often.

If Leafs give him a ton of years, we can kiss any chance of competing, goodbye.

One thing we do know is that the vast majority of players that do end up playing here, they love it and don't want to leave. Anybody that does not want to play here, it's their loss.

Did Nonis say he isn't interested in acquiring help from Free Agency OR trade?

Meaning he won't make any signings or trades???

He should be playing top minutes with the Marlies this year, not being placed into our lineup on nothing but blind faith. Let him prove his worth in the AHL first.

Give him a 4 year deal for a combined 4 million. Problem solved.

People tend to forget that in February Leafs faced almost exclusively non-playoffs teams and in March playoffs teams were in "no injury, please" mode and lose to other pretenders all the time. Leafs records then went up. Even if they got to 2 weeks hot steak, so what? They are not the team that can win on skill alone, which is result of too many mediocre years in a row.

You sure about that? San Jose, LA, Bos, Buff......maybe re-think that.

Anywho, I say offer Connolly 2 years/10 mill. We arent tight to the cap and theirs no one next year at all enticing. It may be a bit much, but we need help at C badly. If healthy he could play well with Kessel.
That is a really poor investment. I'm thinking more like 2yrs 6M

If he can't accept that then just do what we're going to do anyways and hope our young guys have huge years.

so the leafs played harder teams early in the year and that's your excuse for losing. Makes sense. So no other team can't face easy teams and win.

Nonis isnt our GM? Burke is.

Im not sure why of you actually believe what NHL execs say anyways. Tallon said the Panthers were done then an hour later signed Bergenheim. Burke adamantly said he'd never leave the Ducks for the Leafs he was here shortly after.
