Murray already said one of Zibanejad or Da Costa will make the team.

Both of them will not make it and it's possible neither of them do.

That's good news. I haven't been able to watch any pre-season games.

Filitov has the highest goal scoring potential I doubt he will be separated from spezza unless he hits it off with Regin somehow.

To me greening does not have first line skills tbh.

When we look at first line guys and what that do

Alex ovechkin
The sedin twins
Corey perry
Spezza
Crosby
Kessel
Alfie
Now greening :/ I don't think he even close to lone 1 player.

Sometimes it is about the fit and chemistry IMO. I wouldn't discount Greening based solely on other players having more "1st line" skill than him.
If you're gonna put Greening with Spezza purely because there was chemistrylast season you just gotta remember one thing, it's Jason Spezza. That guy IS chemistry.

All I'm saying is while greening is a good player he's not top line potential especially for the long term and especially when Filitov is for sure more suited for top line.

I don't see a top line goal scorer in a butler spezza greening line. Maybe butler but he seems more of a poor mans kessel to me and more suited for less minutes that a top role tbh. But you never know what these guys ate gonna do what they'll put up so maybe I'll eat my words.

Idiot/Imbecile Garrioch believes Lee will be in a dogfight to make the team or stay in the lineup.

Maybe he should actually watch some games, instead of pontificating about how great he is and how great the smell of his own **** is.

That number has what? ... $3M in bonuses to put us over the top?
That works throughout the season because all bonuses will count towards the cap this year because of the expiring CBA, but they need to be earned to keep us over the floor. Think of Filatov on his own; he could earn half of that bonus money but probably hasn't earned a dime of bonus money in his career thus far. So imagine he fails to earn bonus money this year, we finish under the cap, the NHLPA has a fit citing the Kovalchuk precedent and the NHL is taking away one of our 1st rounders as a penalty.

Yeah, I don't have an ounce of respect for any of our sports media covering hockey. Kovalev was right about them.

Spezza
Regin
Smith
Konopka

No, see the thing is, whatever line Alfie is on is at worst a second line. It's a scoring line. My issue with that is that line is not a scoring line nor does it attempt to be. It's a checking line with Alfie on it. Alfie can play that role, but why in god's name would you want him to given his offensive ability?

Those lines just don't make sense.

Nope, he said only one of them may make it, and both may not make it.

Totally off topic, but I couldn't believe* that the reaction to Kovalev's comments was so negative towards Kovalev, completely ignoring the fact that he might be telling the truth.

They joke about stuff like Ottawa media drinking on the plane, but it's representative of a completely unprofessional attitude towards journalism.

Toronto and Montreal are lucky in that they at least have some quality journalists that care more about facts and reality than their ability to get close or friendly with the team.

*Yeah I lied, I totally can believe it. Par for the course with the cronyism that exists in sports media.

Milan Michalek?

Lol I do agree, but not anyone can play with Spezza and be successful. Michalek would be much more successful with a more north-south centerman imo.. Zibanejad for example!

The poster has supported the notion of three scoring lines forever, he's just saying that Alfie is on the 3rd of the scoring lines. It doesn't neccesarily mean that he will see the least amount of ice time, it just means that he's part of a more "balanced" attack.
