Im happu with 3.5 for him, thought it would be more than that, gives up room for a trade if he wants.

Good signing and not a bad cap hit. If he can stay healthy and produce we have the best 2nd line in the game.

He's entering the downside of his career. $3.5M for a .5 point per game player (which is what his next 2 years will project to be as his production begins to slow) is a lot. I'd rather of saved that $3.5M and used it on a better player acquired in a trade, but because we were able to get him in FA without giving up anything, I guess that will be ok. Just a bit disappointed we weren't able to acquire someone better. Oh well.

History or no, Clifford being anything more than a third liner would mean this team has beaucoup injuries. Clifford plays the third-line winger role better than Penner or Gagne would, and he'd be in way over his head in an offensive role.

This was a great plan B addition, and they didn't even overpay, considering the money being thrown around yesterday. Very satisfied!

Just to make you even more enthusiastic:

Gagne is great defensively, him and Richards constantly played together agains the best of the east and still produced.
Even when he isn't scoring he still offers something to the team because he's a very good skater and, as I said, very good defensively.

He can also play a lot of roles on the powerplay.

Very excited about the Kings!

Gagne at a (minimum) .5 ppg pace beats the unknown output of Scott Parse any day of the week.

This guy will be lucky to be in one piece by the end of his contract. haha! They should wrap him in bubble wrap or one of those sumo suits they use between periods.

Glad the Kings signed him even with the injury risk. Smyth was no iron man himself. I think we got a better player for less money/cap hit. I'm very satisfied with the offseason this year. I'm looking forward to this season more than any other in my 30 years.

Gagne had insury issues all season with the Lightning.
In the first half, when he played he played injured and under pain, as nobody could figure out his neck problems.
You probably can imagine that this isn't an ideal situation.
Now imagine how this situation is when you just have been traded for garbage from the team that just went to the Cup Finals and which happened to have drafted you after you played your heart out for 12 years for them.
Now you're injured/hurt and try to establishe some chemistry with your new teammates but you are in and out of the line-up.

Once Gagne got into a rythm he was very good for the Lighting as he was in the playoffs.

Gagne will be well over 0.5ppg with the Kings.

Bummed we lost out on B Richards, but I'm more than happy with Gagne at 3.5 per. Good signing. Now let's get DD signed and get this show on the road!!

That's a great signing by the Kings on Gagne, if this is 2006

Simon Gagne stats in Games 6 and 7 vs. Boston: 0-0-0, -1, 2 SOG

@adater How about his stats 2 seasons ago when Mike Richards was his center and the Flyers went to the SC Finals?

@adater He'll slide right beside Richards and Brown to finish the top 6. Don't be jealous that the Kings will **** the Avs up this year bud

Then he wrote:

what an ass lol, maybe the avs will actually win the lottery this year, oh wait nvm, you traded your 1st RD pick to Washington for an unproven goalie

You guys got a really good deal, as in it's fair. Seems he had no issues with Richards in the dressing room otherwise I doubt he'd go out west. Like someone further up said, even when he isn't scoring he's a fantastic defender, something the Flyers used to have but don't anymore, as far as forwards go. It will be fun watching the Kings this year.

It made sense in roster terms, but I didn't think Gagne would sign with the Kings. My guess is the Kings offered more years and/or more money than other teams. Richards possibly made a difference, I'd guess not the deciding one though.

He's been through some battles, done some good things in big games, and hopefully he'll stay healthy.
