Simon Gagne stats in Games 6 and 7 vs. Boston: 0-0-0, -1, 2 SOG

I replied to him by saying

azizk47 Aziz Khalil
@adater How about his stats 2 seasons ago when Mike Richards was his center and the Flyers went to the SC Finals?

@adater He'll slide right beside Richards and Brown to finish the top 6. Don't be jealous that the Kings will **** the Avs up this year bud

Then he wrote:
adater adater
@azizk47 Let's hope so. Maybe Kings will actually win a playoff round this year

what an ass lol, maybe the avs will actually win the lottery this year, oh wait nvm, you traded your 1st RD pick to Washington for an unproven goalie
What a dumb argument. Kessler was 0-0-0 with a -3 in the last two games of the cup finals. Using a two game stretch to evaluate a player is idiotic

We're gonna win. WE'RE GONNA WIN!!!! All I have left to do is to buy my Richards jersey and find my DeLorean to get the season started now

Kozy15 is obviously Brandon Kozun.
While I don't think it is likely, it is certainly possible that Brown will move to 3rd line RW if one of the youngsters shines like Kozun who would be much stronger on the 2nd than the 3rd checking line.. The advantage of this would be 3 dynamic lines.

Just a bit disappointed we weren't able to acquire someone better. Oh well.
He had 12 points in 15 playoff games last year. How does that become 0.5 PPG with Richards and Brown?

40 points in 63 games.

Who had Smyth playing 82 games last year? Injuries can happen to anyone at anytime. Just ask the current record holder for consecutive games played by a King, Kopitar.

Considering how inconsistent Smyth was this season I don't see how anyone can complain about Gagne at 3 mil less, injury history or not.

Just what I thought. I'm a happy camper this summer. If we hadn't gone after Richards, we would all be stoked. Richards and Gagne. Let's hope Gagne can stay healthy. He's had good success with Richards, hasn't he?

Dater is a terrible reporter. There's a reason every Avs fan can't stand the guy.

Yeah, I wasn't quite sure where that projection came from either. Gagne is still only 31 years old and while his injury history should definitely give us all concern to pump the brakes a little on our enthusiasm, he's still projects to be better than a 0.5 PPG if healthy for this contract.

I'm fine with this signing, actually better than fine. It's nice to see the Kings have a back-up plan when Plan A doesn't go through. We got the best guy we possibly could at this point without giving up any assets. Sure, I probably would have preferred a few trade options more but we don't know if A) those targets are even available; and B) we would be willing to give up enough to get them.

Very good off-season for us so far. Please stay healthy, Gagne!

Great signing and great cap hit! Looking at his game logs last year it looks like he really turned his game around late in the year and playoffs. 33 points in last 38 games in the regular season

Very possible he can score 30 goals if he plays 70 games. And in this market, can't go wrong at that price and term. His playoff production was good, and I care about that the most.

Going into age 32 and 33 in his 2 seasons, his production is positioned to decline.

I can't find the exact quote, but DL said not too long ago that players as they hit 30 start to see their production decline. If he is .65 per game player now, by the end of the 2 years, he will likely be a .5 per game player. It's not a certainty. Just a statistical trend. He might maintain his production, or even surpass it. It's not likely though.

Is he the best option left available on the FA market? Probably. Is he the answer for the Kings ills? Probably not. Not dissimilar to when Handzus signed and was hoped to be the 2nd line center answer but ended up playing the majority of his career with the Kings on the 3rd line due to declining production. He came in as a .65 point per game player at age 31. He left spending almost his entirety of time on the third line and not even a .5 point per game player at age 33/34. I'm cautious that we might see the same thing happen with Gagne.

Yes, linemates will help. But sometimes even the best linemates in the world cannot overcome diminished skills.

I think Dean will listen, but probably won't be actively looking outside the organization.

Lewis, Richardson and Doughty need deals.

If Parise becomes available after his arbitration reward, Dean will be involved.

Great signing to round out the top six. Can't wait till the season to start.

DL has done a great job at making LA legit.
