**** yes, this guy threw me an autograph puck, and hes sick too. But I find it weird we keep signing former Moose such as Flood and Rypien, but yeah Rypien.

sooo

Ladd-Little-Wheeler
Kane-Burmi-Antropov
Thorburn-Cormier-Klingberg
Glass-Slater-Rypien

Stapes?

Enstrom-Buff
Bogo-Hainsey
Oduya-Stewart

this is exactly the same team. I imagine there will be a trade or two at some point
Did FCS move to D?

Rypien will contribute on the 4th line and be a fan favorite. If he can keep his life together there's no reason he can't be one of the best 4th liners in the league.

I hope no fans boo him....Cause...well...you know.

I pray that the they have something else in mind...because...well...They aren't getting better right now.

Somehow they are getting worse. Trust me.

I know you will all say "just wait"...well, we have been watching this team for 11 years...we know if they are getting worse...right now..they are.

I'm trying to figure out Chevy's game plan with these signings. I get that most of them are going to be in St. John's but is anyone else thinking maybe he's tried to go after some of these other guys who have been picked up and they just weren't interested in signing here.

I know he publicly said they weren't looking to sell the farm and overpay for a quick fix, but who knows what is actually true at this point as we seem to only be picking up local boys at this point.

Time will tell I suppose.

People who think you win in this league by signing UFAs have no idea

I've always liked Rick Rypien and I think he can play a role here, but he must keep things together for himself. Not a bad signing in my mind.

It's all depth stuff.

Rypien can throw, but he's more useless than Boulton. Boulton could PK and occasionally scored. As much as I enjoyed watching Rip's fights, that was pretty much it.

I'd rather the team had signed Reasoner or someone.
I agree.

When teams start finalizing their rosters they'll need to free up money and that is when the Jets will have a better opportunity to get some help in their top six.

Sign Zenon Konopka and this bottom 6 isn't exactly pleasing to play against.

Ladd - Little - Wheeler
Kane - Burmistrov - Antropov

Konopka - Slater - Thorburn
Glass - Cormier - Rypien

Or, Cormier on the wing and Konopka at center,

Cormier - Slater - Thorburn
Glass - Konopka - Rypien

I'll say one thing, I think with a set-up like this, roles are defined and thus guys would become very dedicated within those roles. If everyone shows up and works hard every night and does their job, this team should be competitive.

I can get on board with that forward line-up. The top 6 relies a lot on development of Little, Kane, and Burmistrov and a healthy Antropov. But like you said, that bottom 6 would be an absolute ***** to play against, and Atlanta fans saw what Slater, THorburn, and Boulton could do. The forecheck those guys could put up would be something.

I feel like you guys should have went with the name Manitoba Moose at this rate. Do you think Jets management is gonna sign anyone better then a 4th line players?

Exactly, and, if you pull anything stupid with the kids in the top 6, or anyone up there, you're answering the bell to Konopka, Rypien, Glass, Thorburn, etc.. that wouldn't be fun.

After these signings, I am really, really hoping Cheveldayoff signs Konopka. He would round this group out perfect in my opinion.

Thats a good question!

Fourth liners are about all that's left in the current UFA class and they are a dime a dozen.

UFA's generally want to go to a team that has either a realistic shot at winning a Stanley Cup now or they want a boatload of money.

In my opinion, Winnipeg can offer neither at this point.

The Jets are commited to building through the draft, which means there will be a few lean years as our young players develope.

It will be all worth it when Gary Bettman presents the Stanley Cup to Winnipeg Jets Captain Andrew Ladd.

After having supported AHL hockey for a few years the fans here are well aware of the importance of organizational depth. Rypien came to the Moose with a good attitude last season and played hard. If Rypien stops attacking fans he'll be OK.

What about his linemates, Garth Murray and Aaron Volpatti?

Or guys like Jason Jaffray, Guillaume Desbiens, and Marco Rosa?

Or former Moose, Wolf, and Thrasher Jason Krog?

I'm stealing this term from a Thrasher poster on the former Thrasher forum.

I may be a simple Snow Farmer but WTF is wrong with building from the ground up.

Wolves weren't much of a team and neither were the Thrashers last year. Ya, there were reasons for that but check out how the Moose helped the Canucks. I'm looking at two or three years down the road. Not next year and I think TNSE is working along the same line. Build from the ground up, not the top down.

Fans of other teams that aren't doing so well should take a close look at their farm teams also. I found this out the hard way but there is more to hockey than the NHL. Those NHL greats that we all watch came from somewhere.

I think there will be at least 1 more NHL level signing by the Jets. It could be a big one like a 3rd liner. But seriously at least one more coming.

This is a Great signing!!

Besides being one of the best fighters in the league!!... as a fore checker he absolutely terrorizes other teams defence and with one hit can absolutely send the MTS Center into a frenzy (Ive seen it many times) this is one of my favorite players.

Glass-Cormier-Rypien would be scary to play against IMO.

This will clear the air somewhat for those who may speculate or think Rick Rypien has or had issues with drugs and/or alcohol. Nice to hear those words from Rick.

Where are there any quotes from Rick? Read the article and didn't see any. Am I missing something?

Looks like the free press simply updated the article to Randy Jones and removed the Rypien quotes, wierd. I'll try and find it here. All I did was put it Rick Rypien under google news and the free press article appeared, however now they've changed it. Should still be on the free press site somewhere.
