Ok, I guess. Still a bit bummed about this offseason so far.

didn't want him. i know some guys in here are high on him, but he's not great defensively and has never produced big-point seasons. if that cap hit is accurate, then ok, not awful, but im hardly doing cartwheels of joy either.

I like it alot. That cap hit is alot smaller than what market value seems to dictate.

I think this means for sure at this point Smith for sure is staying in Grand Rapids for one more year, unless Commodore is horrible at camp and we just put him on waivers,

as of right now we got on D

Lidstrom
Kronwall
Stuart
Ericsson
White
Commodore
Kindl

I can see us maybe running with 8 d, but if we did, I don't think Holland would want Smith being a #8 when he can be carrying the load on d for us in Grand Rapids

A solid signing but really let's be honest here, we thought it would be White and another solid pickup.

Bleeeeergh. Mike Commodore and Ian White. Not looking like a serious cup contender defense. The cap hit could have been a lot worse though.

Blah, never wanted him, the cap hit makes me indifferent but he doesn't inspire a lot of confidence. Our number 1 rival just cast him off without thinking twice, so I'm not sure how much better this makes us

Wings are good enough for SJ's trash.

WHITE POWER!

Sorry. I like this signing, he impressed me in the playoffs and the value is great.

So lose Raffi and Salei and pick up Commie and White?

How is this a step forward? Big Rig better be making a huge jump in effectiveness this season.

White would be good if we'd made a serious attempt to get a good defensive defenseman (Hannan instead of Commodore).

I think people are underselling White. He's could thrive in the Wings system

I can tell you this, watching that series against SJ last year, I remember watching White and thinking, hey, that's what Rafalski is supposed to be doing.

Good pickup.

But as I stated previously when I suggested the Wings were still going to get White, this leaves the Wings in a quandry,

Either Lidstrom plays the PK. Kindl plays the PK. Or Kindl sits and Commodore plays.

And do you really want Kindl sitting for Commodore at this stage of his career?

Win the Free Agent Stanley Cup, I guess.

Apparently we should just tank the season, fire Holland and replace him with Captain Bob.

I'm fine with this move. Obviously I would've liked to see a bigger name, but the contract is fine.

Thrilled with this signing. He will relegate Ericsson to the bottom 6 very quickly.

Weird seeing the Wings with so much cap room left over.

The contract actually looks like garbage, relative to his accomplishments.
But I think he's got the potential to really out perform that contract.

White can PK by the way, believe it or not. Did it for Toronto, did it in Calgary and even did it in SJ for a bit.

I really liked what he brought for Toronto, haven't seen that much of him since though.

Good signing. Works well on the 2nd PP.

Power-play:

Dats - Zeta - Homer
Lidström - Kronwall

Mule - Huds - Tuzzi/Filppula
White - Ericsson

Only the right handed shot is missing from 1st PP unit, but Daniel Alfredsson will be there after the trade-deadline.

Penalty kill:

Helm - Eaves
Filppula - Cleary
Abdelkader - Miller/Mursak

Stuart - Commodore
Kronwall - Ericsson/Lidström/White
