Great. Then we can all look forward to the June draft next year.

I wonder how much we'd have to give up in order to pry Mike Green from Washington.

You sir, are in correct.

Setoguchi signed a 3 year extension with San Jose and was traded to Minnesota a day later.

Wizniewski avoided arbitration with Anaheim last year and signed a 1 year deal, hours later he was traded to the Islanders.

It's not common, but you can't say it doesn't happen. In this situation with Yandle, I don't this is one of those occasions. Although, Botta's comments did raise a eyebrow.

It actually may not cost that much. The Capitals are currently over the cap and still have to resign RFA Karl Alzner. I would take a guess they would want one of Bailey/Comeau+ Matt Donovan and a 2nd rd pick maybe?

This is a guy who, in 2 of the past 3 seasons, was a PPG defenseman in the NHL. Replace Donovan with DeHaan and upgrade that 2nd to a 1st and maybe McPhee stays on the line.

His lack of a NTC and RFA status next season are very attractive to the Isles, though.

I dont think i would do dehaan and a first considering green had concussion problems last season. Theres no guarantee he could stay healthy all season

If thats would it would take, Bailey/Comeau, De Haan and a 1st, then I don't want any part of Green. He's real good offensively, but at that price, he isn't good enough defensively for my liking for that deal to go through.

At the very minimum that's what it'd cost.. Mike Green is a star defensemen... Washington will find a way to get under the cap don't kid yourself into thinking that we could get him on the cheap.

I'm actually (to quote Marissa Tomei in "My Cousin Vinny") 100% dead balls acurate.

Quote:
In U.S. basketball, a sign-and-trade agreement is a type of contract allowed in the NBA collective bargaining agreement, wherein one team signs a player to a contract and trades him to another team. This is typically done to allow the eventual acquiring team to obtain a free agent player at a higher salary and/or a greater number of years than would ordinarily be permitted under the NBA salary cap.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sign_and_trade

A "sign and trade" can void the contract signed by the player if certain conditions are not met. It can also cancel the trade. Signing a player to contract and then trading that player is not the same as a "sign and trade".

THe NHL does not have "sign and trades".

I think carkner has more of a mean streak though and he might be better defensively too

Hey CDirt,

It's 100% dead on balls accurate. It's an industry term.

Damn it!!!! Hate it when I blow a movie quote.

Well, I guess the laws of physics cease to exist on top of your stove. Were these magic grits? Did you buy them from the same guy who sold Jack his beanstalk beans?

That being said, I would rather the Islanders stand pat and continue the re-build. There is no easy way to go about a rebuild. If you deal your specs now for a "proven player" it better be a FRANCHISE corner stone.

Because at this point I think fans are tired of watching top specs move on to bigger and better things while we are left with the Kavashas and Mullers of the world.

We knew what we were getting our selves into. We all commended Snow for his drafting, the ability to acquire a lot of picks, restock the cupboard so-to-speak, and give the Islanders some legit young talent to groom.

Now we have spent the past couple years grooming them and bringing them along slow and some of you want to move them as soon as you can.

You wait until your team is a playoff contender before you start shipping out specs for that "piece to put you over the top."

Haha, great movie! Vinny would be an Islanders fan too. Screw Kevin Connolly, let's get Joe Pesci as our celebrity fan. Although I didn't mind the Christie Brinkley days.

Snow is just going to wait it out if he's smart. You would have to think that a salary cap casualty becomes available just like Wiesnewski last year. All it'll take is a draft pick.

Garth has been very protective of our youth, you'd have to think he will continue to do so.
