I'm not someone who thinks this pushes the Caps over the edge in the playoffs (Neuvirth was good and has about as much playoff experience in the NHL as Vokoun does at this point), but this is just such a crazy hilarious situation that I'm beaming right now.

Maybe he wanted a shot at being a 1 on a cup contender? After Bryz signed, Caps were it.

And 2 older Czechs added to the team so that makes 3 - Vokoun, Hamrlik and Neuvirth.

I think a lot of people, including here, knew that if the right one year contract was available for a goalie, Holtby was going back to Hershey...no surprise here, but glad to see it's Vokoun and on those contract terms. Holtby as has been noted will be better off starting in Hershey and getting call-ups; it's not about his upside but about what he needs now.

Good news.

Whats going on with Florida and Washington? Apparently GMGM is loving the chance to cherry pick Floridas roster. One things for sure though. Those great performances by Vokoun against the Caps certainly made an impression.

Apparently now NobodyBeatstheWiz gets to use his Czech mate joke.

Maybe that is why they signed Hamrlik yesterday? Anyway, with Vokoun in net that takes away the pressure on Holtby and Neuvy and the defense don't have to worry about young goalie pressure. Vokoun will pick up the slack of defensive lapses too. I like this signing at 1.5 million and 1 year tremendously. Time to pop more popcorn and see who gets traded .

Thank you GMGM. This doesn't mean were cup contenders, but that's a hell of a deal.

So many damn good options.

If this fails. We have the two kids still.

If voukun shines, he's still young enough to sign to term and trade one of the other kids.

Basically puts us back into making a decision next year on a goalie as gmgm stated in his presser.

Good for you guys. He likely priced himself out of other places, but this gives one of your other two tenders further time to develop, and the Caps a great shot at the Cup.

Nice moves so far, hard not to love Vokoun.

He'll be absolutely stellar for several games in a row, but will let a few baffling ones through for a few games in a row. Caps have the firepower to make up for those hiccups. Play him less than 60, and there shouldn't be any issues.

Oh my GOD HE"S SO MUCH GRIT! ROAR!

Lol, no seriously I love the signing. Though I do hate the idea that going after people means you're a better hockey player.

Anyone think we could go all out offense now like 09-10 now that we have an elite goalie? Either way, he's the first goalie we've had since the team has been good that can flat out steal a game.

GMGM has OCD. Hopefully they add another Russian Winger next year, if you catch my drift. Are you guys catching my drift? It's an easy drift to catch.

GMGM prolly had 1.5 budgeted for a #1 goalie and when varly got traded he could spend that money on Voukon
