Me too, I was expecting nothing again this offseason. I don't remember any off season where the Caps were this UFA crazy and were able to sign players. Ted must have ripped GMGM a new ass after the Tampa series.

Varly was another example of stuff coming up. They didn't expect to get a potential lottery pick in one of the deepest drafts in years to be made available to them. And in free agency, hey we were warned they were going to be aggressive.

Besides after rooting for the Redskins during the Vinny years it's nice to see surprises.

Lol, I am not saying no such thing until I see results . BB is still here and has to show us he can do great with this support. Having said that, I'm not going to ruin the last few days focused on old known stuff. I wish the season would start tomorrow.

It's hard not to give them any credit for the moves they've made. At least 3 out of 5 were blatant steals. Ward and Hammer TBD.

Vokoun is a fantastic chip to have at that price.

I doubt Alzner gets this much and perhaps not close, but with Poti on LITR (nevermind Fehr), cap space doesn't appear to be much of a problem at all...

The Vokoun deal definitely compensates for Ward and Hamrlik,

Vokoun is easily worth 3.5.....so it makes feel better knowing that Ward is getting 2 and Hamrlik, 2.5

Yeah, it's not a problem at all until there the injuries start to pile up and the Capitals don't have any cap space free whatsoever. Also, I don't think Alzner will get 3m, but I think it's safe to say that Brouwer will get closer to 2-2.25.

How many games do you think vokoun and neuvirth will play respectively? I say about 50-30... Kinda like Thomas and rask last year

Should be excited but to compare this to other deals in the league isn't realistic. This isn't a multi year signing, so to say the flyers got shafted with Bryz is a bit extreme. It's not like Vokoun was signed for 5 years for 1.5 mil.

What he did was sign a one year deal, and look for a better deal come next FA, because it didn't happen this year. That's what it was about. And he went to the Caps because they were the best team that needed a goalie..it was a great idea for him. Play one year at 1.5 mil..hope to compete for a cup, and then look to get a 5 year deal next FA. Can Caps afford him next season, I doubt it .

Someone pinch me. Seriously. WTF just happened. I went to play some NHL 11 because all we had left was a trade or two... and I come back and we have the best free agent goalie this year signed to a 1.5M cap hit?

Whoever kidnapped the real GMGM, you can keep him.

Seriously, GMGM has been in god mode this offseason. I'm not sure I love Ward as a player, and remains to be seen how Hammer will do, but the fact that he managed to snag Ward out of 20 bidders is amazing.

Lol, I've been updating the roster myself. That game drives me crazy due to so many little things being extremely unrealistic, particularly the skating, but I keep going back to it.

Wow..for 1.5? What a deal! I had you guys pegged as the typical regular season overachievers, but now I think you guys got that missing piece to make a splash in the playoffs.

Good luck to you next season as on paper right now I would say it's between you and Philly in the East. Of course there's 82 games to be played but Vokoun is just awesome.

When I said it's Vokoun to the Caps for 3M? Yesterday?

Unbelieveable.

BB should be canned if he still does stupid mistakes and excuses next spring.

GMGM can't be canned at all for several years now methinks.

PS: Veteran guys all over the roster. Huge.

The Flyers could have easily rolled with the same strategy. They could have kept Carter and Richards, signed Vokoun for one year and then turned back to Bobrovsky afterwards like the Caps are doing with Neuvirth and Holtby.
