I think, given the streakiness that some prior poster talked about, that Neuvirth will probably play quite a few games. Let Vokoun settle down, get him some rest, and roll with a young, amazingly consistent backup. I'd say Neuvirth plays probably about 30 games.

Let's not forget that GMGM has first dibs on re-signing him, too, next year... if he plays the Caps into the late rounds, I would bet that a deal gets worked out. After all, I'm sure he's pretty tired of losing too. It will cost more, but I think it gets done.

Unbelieveable.

BB should be canned if he still does stupid mistakes and excuses next spring.

GMGM can't be canned at all for several years now methinks.

PS: Veteran guys all over the roster. Huge.
Even more important: Useful veteran guys all over the roster. Now when do the Halpern sweaters become available? I was at Kettler earlier today and nothing. They still have Varlamov jerseys on the racks. I may even have to get a Vokoun.

Wonder how the Florida fans used to cheer him... I want to welcome him to Verizon Center properly on opening night. You know he's getting the start.

If they win the cup this year then the next wave of young guys will come in full force. Thats the dangerous part about not winning the cup when you're suppose to. You end up holding onto players to long.

To sum up, winning the cup will result in the start of another youth movement featuring the third wave. Failure on the other hand will result in the team pushing the limits of the cap.

So we signed Laich, ward, and vokoun, for 10 million. All of a sudden these deals look pretty damn good. Shocked we got him for 1.5, we finally look like a serious contender IMO.

lets not jump too far up in the air. tomas is a quality goalie.
he is a steal.

he has also has won three playoff games and hasnt played in
a playoff game since 07.

its even money that if he gets playoff games that he reminds us more
of roberto luongo than patrick roy.

Adrian Dater (Denver Post) going crazy again today

@adater

I think the Capitals have no real idea what they're doing now. Vokoun signing is big slap in face of other two "top guys". Neuvirth=backup

the caps just upgraded their goaltending without adding salary and obtaining a potential top 10 pick and a second rounder. unreal.

the two G moves coordinated in advance or not, I believe not, his G play is a strong win now move. As was getting Brouwer. I know George has been busy but still I wonder why he isnt inked. I like that deal be signed at the time of the trade. Anyways.

I bet Holtby isnt very happy. George took the time yesterday to recall his stats to close out last spring, while assuring he was fine with the 2 kids next year and the entire lineup actually. 8-0-1 in his final 8 NHL games last year. George didnt go out of way to justify anyone else being on the roster.

If you are Neuvy, do you like the deal? I can see it going both ways.

Congrats on this signing, Caps fans! You guys are the team to beat in the East, and likely the entire league.

Good luck next season!

Too funny. Half the comments out there are "what a steal", the other half are just haterade.

You know you're doing good when fans of teams that don't even need goalies come to your section of HF and congratulate you on the deal

Is it commonly accepted that he is a top 5 G? I dont know the league well enough anymore, and know stats can be misleading.

I know Bater listed him at 7, the only googles i looked at.
