For Jason Gregoire and Blake Kessel, it’s nothing personal with the Islanders. Four years after being drafted by the Islanders, three years into their college hockey careers, Gregoire and Kessel appear to be simply utilizing their Collective Bargaining Agreement rights to consider offers from the other 29 teams in the NHL. They hope you’d understand.

REALLY surprised at the love Kabanov is getting at this point in the poll. I know the talent is there, but he still has a long way to go in proving that he can put it all together. The playoff run was nice, but are those 15 games enough to trump the past few seasons for guys like Donovan, A.Lee and C.Cizikas?

ITM-

You are DEAD ON. Your name couldn't be more perfect. The "masses" voting probably don't know much about many of the prospects left and are voting for kabanov because he's a *name.*

The truth is he's more of a PROJECT over a PROSPECT at this point. I don't have him in the top 10 for sure. Guys like Wishart and even Katic have shown that they can play at the NHL level, but there's no indication that Kabanov can or will. For all the positive talk about his year in Lewiston last year, he had two good weeks of playoffs and that's it. His regular season point totals were flat out embarrassing for anyone who could be considered a legit NHL regular much less top-flight prospect.

I'm happy we signed him to give him a chance, but Kabanov is so much further away from the NHL than so many voting for him think.

I'm a little surprised Cizikas got as many votes as he did this round. I think he has the tools to be an NHL player, but I don't envision him as being much more than a 3rd line type player. I don't think his offensive game is going to translate well enough to the NHL to justify a Top 6 role.

Either way, this prospect pool still rivals any of the other 29 team's in the league. IMO this is a Top 3 type class easily, especially when you factor in all of the young players who have already cracked the roster.

This post makes me so happy because it's true. I've been rooting for the Islanders since the mid-80's and this is by far the deepest we've ever been that I've seen.

Kirill was ranked #5 in last years poll. So he's actually dropping.

Kabanov, since Petrov isn't getting any love.

He was way too high last year and looks like he's going to be way too high again.
