Tyson Barrie is the leading scorer for LEM with 20 points in 32 games. Good start to his professional career. With us having eight defenders up here (when Wilson returns) it's hard seeing him get a chance up here this year but I think most of us felt a year in the AHL would be good for him (and Elliott too) so it's not a big deal.

I'm hoping Barrie stays in the AHL, because it likely means we're healthy on the blue line, and because I think a full year in the minors is probably better for him than going back and forth. As long as Elliott keeps getting the minutes he's getting, I think it's good he's with the big club. Otherwise, he needs to go back to Erie to get the minutes.

It's a shame they didn't/couldn't retain Ben Walter and Matt Ford. I think those were some key players for the Monsters last season and would help Lake Erie a lot this season. I guess Jessiman is doing reasonably well as Ford's replacement, offensively at least.

Brad Malone was sent back to Lake Erie today.

He was playing fairly solid for the Avs, but glad to see we are able to get him back to the Monsters where he can get more minutes, and hopefully help LE out again.

I think it may be harder for them to let DVDG go as he clearly seems to be outplaying the likes of Yip, and maybe even Porter and McLeod.

Hopefully Malone has confidence from his NHL stint and can get his offensive game going at the AHL level.

Is Desjardins hurt? Cann was the goalie for the last 3 games.

Kinda Surprised Barrie didnt make the All Star game. Leading the Monsters in Points as a rookie defensman and playing well.

I dont follow the Monsters very well and just base it off stats, but could someone who has watched them play alot give insight on why he wasnt picked of if maybe he was deserving and just didnt?

Cann has started the last 5, including losing the last 3 straight.

I still hadn't seen anything talking about Desjardin's injury in the usual places, so a Google search turned up the following:

She must have dumped Gali. He's been getting some ice time lately.

Ruh-roh...just read the Monsters signed a goalie. Guess Cedrick's injury is more serious than we were led to believe.

Jessiman wins it for LEM in OT, scoring his 19th goal while having 2 assists. Passing is for *******?

AWESOME SAUCE!! had no idea he was playing yet (thought was just skating) this is great, by the time Duch comes back he'll have handful of games to get his conditioning somewhat there. sometime after that We got us a new line
Mules-Duch-Olver
But i dont think itll be better Mcleod-VDG(whose ok actually)and Ports, no not sure.

Wow, that line won't last a full game.

Barrie played almost all of the OT powerplay and was amazing set it all up he really looked good out there today. his skating was awesome and he has great vision i really was impressed far exceeded what i thought about him until this point. I hate stoa so much, i do not think i have ever seen a player leave the offensive zone so many times during a cycle to take a break at the bench.

why not?

Plus great to hear about Barrie, not one to put too much stock into stats at the minor
pro level, but its encouraging especially how he started. When was the last time
a defenceman led his team in scoring in the AHL?

I think Elliott gets sent back down when SOB comes back, and rightfully so. He's got a taste of what its like and the things he needs to work on to be successful at the next level.

As for Olver, give him a couple more weeks down there to get his legs and I think we'll see him back up with the Avs. Hopefully Yip gets sent down.

Definitely agree about both points. Elliott hasn't looked good for a while now. Hopefully Olver tears up the AHL again and gets the callup once he is ready.

We might as well send down van der Gulik too. He is one of LEMs best forwards and he doesn't do us much good in the press box when we already have Yip there.
