Red Wings in the NorthEast

Do we stand a chance of making the playoffs next year if the RedWings are moved into the division?

Yeah. Lidstrom and Holmstrom retiring. Somehow Ian White and Jonathan Ericsson don't scare me. Kronwall could potentially leave too and turn them from contender to good top 6 and nothing else.

yeah I kinda agree with that. Within the next couple of years the Wings are going to be reduced to a shell of their former selves with all the old agers retiring or being traded. Unless they make some moves to pick up some young talent or test the free agent market which in 2013 looks to be amazing, I don't think they will be as competitive as they are now withing the next few years.

Well, they have Brendan Smith who is probably the next Rafalski.

Then you have prospects like Mursak, Tatar and Nyquist that are potential top 6.

And they'll probably find a sleeper in the 6-7th round haha!!

Don't count them out..

With the Jets and the Wings going in other conferences, it could be the end of the divisions. I don't have a link, but I think it was on cyberpresse at some point. They would re-do everything. It's a good idea because we always play against the same teams. The concept isn't really fair some some city...

Jurco could be a nice pickup in a few years for them too.. or he could be all hype.. good puck skills and playmaker right now but not sure if it will carry over into the NHL or not.

No one I don't think.. they have to have at least one division with 6 teams as far as I can tell.

I'm guessing that the Wings will be good for a few more years. Then one year when Zetterberg and Datsyuk are in their twilight years they'll finally have a bad year and end up drafting the next Crosby.

They're well coached so they will remain a good team. Plus, they have a great development system.

Bring it. I love Detroit games. And I think we can make the playoffs with better competition.

I live in Columbus, when I go to games, I see a lot of jerseys from other teams. Habs games (the 1 game every 2 years) feel like what the Bell Center might feel like with powerful earplugs.

They need Chicago and they need Detroit.

They need to "win" more imo. Columbus is a good sports town from what I gather and I think if they iced a playoff team for 3-5 years in a row, they'd develop a solid fan base.

It's a great sports town, for college sports, at least right now. The football stadium fills 102,000 seats, every game. Now that there's been this idiotic non-scandal, the football team's dynasty in the big ten is probably over, and those fans might be tempted to go elsewhere.

I agree with you, winning is priority number 1. However, it helps to have Chicago and Detroiy. For example, it sells more tickets, and the hockey bar has more people hanging out there.

There's no NBA, no MLB, no NFL, and it's the ~15th largest metropolitain area in the USA. Yes, they should start winning. Maybe this offseason will help, picking up Jeff Carter, James Wisniewski, and replacing Detroiy with Winipeg should mean more wins and fewer losses.

Massive overkill. 4 of the original 6 in one division.

I live in Indianapolis and I will probably go check out a game this year because of their acquisitions + chance to see Nash live. Having exciting players or even talented is good to take a game in live, you see so much more imo.

Bring it!! How awesome would it be to get down to my hometown of Windsor and hop over the border to Detroit for a Habs/Wings game? It's impossible to get tickets to the ACC in Toronto to see the Habs.
