I would think Strait and Bortuzzo are going to see some time with the big Pens this season. Both are in the last year of their ELC's and the club is going to want to see where they stand as far as NHL development goes. They are going to have to be resigned or cut loose at the end of next season

I'm not to worried about whether or not Strait and Bortuzzo are re-signed next summer. Both will be.

Yeah, regardless of the defensive depth of the organization, if anyone is on the list as candidates to be cut loose, it's surely not either of those guys.

I wonder if Boris and Engelland will go toe to toe in training camp?

It could happen if Engelland thinks his job might be on the line if Valabik plays well and if Valabik thinks fighting him in camp and beating him might increase his chances of being the 7th man (at least).

The Penguins don't fight at training camp.

You're not going to fight you're own guy.

I have never personally seen Valabik fight, so I don't know how good he is at it. Engelland very well may be more effective.

Valabik once beat Shawn Thornton, but then again so has Rupp.

I don't know if people here watch Pitt basketball, but when Dejuan Blair played for Pitt, he was something like 6'7, but he played the center position, and was able to out rebound guys because he had unbelievably long arms.

I think Engo has the same thing going for him. He's not as big as heavyweights, but he's strong, and he has really long arms, so it's hard for guys to get into his face. He probably isn't a heavy by definition, but you just have to watch him to see that he can keep up. The only fighter that worried me about Engo taking on is no longer with us due to unfortunate circumstances.
