World Cup

Are alot of you guys going to the games. I am coming in and sitting in Sec 320 row 1, they were only $50.00, but are the seats decent. Also, I am researching bars to hit , Peel Club and Cheers sound pretty crazy. Also, is LaRonde pretty cool ??? Am staying at Crowne Plaza downtown, All ideas would be awesome. See you in a month! YEAHHHHHHHHH!

I think posters can give you better advice if we know, how old you are and who you're travelling with. As you can imagine the 'guys' may go to different venues than the significant other. Some want to see the cathedrals, some go to Wicked Wandas, some want both.

Well Cheers is more of a place to hook up... not really sports oriented. Peel pub is, and its a pretty cheap place ($1 shooter night Thursdays). Avoid them on Wednesdays... it's ladies' night at both places and waiting 2 hours is pretty long if you just want to get in to watch a game.

5 guys ranging in ages from 29-32. ( Act like 18, when no wives around )No wives or girlfriends, Coming Saturday and leaving Thursday. Gonna giver the whole time. Some good strip clubs too would not hurt. We usually go to Vegas, but because of WC, picked Mtl. instead. All 1st timers. Also, do you know if people at games will be wearing all white or red ??????

Montreal's a city of individuals, I'd be disappointed to see en masse color coordination. I've been told that Wanda's on Maisonneuve is a good strip club, someone mention the one on Stanley that all the players went to after losing to the US last time, name escapes me. I like Hurley's Irish pub on Crescent, not a 18-22 hangout but a bar I like. Prowl Bishop and Crescent and you can't go wrong. I'll let those who actually spend a lot of time downtown suggest where to go.

You can see where you're sitting here. I've sat near there before. Pretty high up obviously, but you get a good view of the action still.

On the advice of a friend, when in Montreal and looking for some adult entertainment, Club Super Sexe on Ste. Catherines is where I always end up (well the 2 times I've been to Montreal). A little heads up. There's no cover to get in, but a large bouncer will show you to your seats and expect a nice tip for doing so at about 5 bucks per head! I'm not sure if all clubs are like this? Though it may seem like extortion, I just pay up and get on with the viewing. Also, the ladies do the hard sell for 'private' dances. But after you say 'NO' 2 or 3 times they go away. I'll spend that 60 clams on alcohol, thanks anyway!

There isn't really a "bad" seat in the house. Just some farther away than others (unless you sit behind the press box which obstructs the view of the scoreboard, but not the ice).

As tourists, I'd recommend sticking to Crescent St. Lots of bars in a small area. I haven't been to the Peel Pub in years, but I remember it being fun, loud and drunken. Cheers is okay, usually a safe bet for the jeans and t shirt crowd. If you want trend and really hot chicks, then hit St.Laurent St.(but note that you should be dressed appropriately in either retro sports wear ie: puma's, adidas, diesel and Von Dutch or Euro fashion ie: Armani and Versace). If you want to immerse yourself in french nightlife try St. Denis St. (lots of cafe's, bistros and taverns).

La Ronde is an amusement park. So if you like those, then you should like it.
If you gamble, then try the Casino. If you like the strippers, try Chez Parée on Stanley, Wanda's on deMaisoneuve (both have top quality babes) or Solid Gold on St.Laurent (near Hwy 40, they have crazy girl on girl private shows). There is also an endless number of second tier strip joints along Ste. Catherine that are more permissive.
If you want escorts, pick up a copy of the Mirror and check the classifieds at the back. If you want some drugs, just ask around (but be somewhat inconspicuous, as it is still illegal), or check out Tam Tam on Parc side of mount Royal on Sunday afternoon and follow your nose.

There are also lots of paintball and go kart tracks around, if you like that stuff.

You might want to avoid that expression in Montreal bars, cause everyone will probably look at you like you're crazy. I first heard the term giver on a trip to New Brunswick earlier this summer. It apparently is a Canadian thing, but it's not particularly known in Quebec.

Montreal is awesome though. Exciting, beautiful city with great night life. I'll be going to the World Cup game vs. the US. Should be a good one. If you've got any questions, feel free to message me or e-mail/msn.

I think Grand Prix Karting on Taschereau (south shore) may have that. I have never been there, but they advertise as having the longest track and the fastest cars.
Grand Prix Karting

I have been to a place near the Olympic Stadium on Hochelaga that was fun, but it had regular go-karts.

If you want a place to watch the game, the Peel pub can do. But if you are looking for women or the in-crowd, St. Laurent is the street to go. Crescent is for tourists ...which you are so you might like it. I despise that street aside from going there during Formula 1 week.

So yeah... St. Laurent. That's it.

I think you're describing car theft. Montreal is well known for that and probably offers a quick beginners instruction manual for tourists.
