Such a terrible trade for them. If they wanted to clear Lombardi's salary so bad, there are much better ways to do it.

Glad we get to see Lebda more often..

At first I thought it said "Nashville trades for Franzen"

"And Wings receive Weber"

Maybe E and Lebda can have that competition to see who can turn the puck over the most times in a game now.

Man, Burke got a good deal (Franson) just by burning money (Lombardi contract).

THat was one ugly deal by the Preds... do they need money to sign Weber/Suter or what?

Too bad Chicago or CBJ didn't sign Lilja to add him to the competition.

Burke stole them. And thats with Lombardi not being able to play. If he plays its definitely a rip.

Relocate all those southern franchises where owners don't wanna spend money (or can't) and bring them to northern usa and canada so we don't have to see such embarassing trade(s) again

Poile gave them away, is a better way to put it. Poile is a better GM than Burke. He has that RFA Qualifying Offer mess to clean up and has Weber and Suter to re-sign in the coming months. He has to clear out salary and still have a roster.

i suspect he is clearing space to resign both Weber and Suter to long term deals

I wonder how the wings are going to replace Lidstrom when they won't be able to get Suter or Weber

Its clearly a salary dump. I'm not saying Burke > Poile.

But Burke actually makes out like a bandit for once.

Wings could have made this deal with Nashville

To Detroit: Lombardi, Franson
To Nashville: Kindl, Nestrasil

(Kindl cheap D with greater potential than Lebda, Nestrasil is a medium ranked prospect much like Slaney)

Ya but, I doubt Nashville trades this to their biggest enemy right?

Nashville didn't want to deal those two within the conference, let alone to their division rival.

Could have and could have.

I'm quite sure Poile wanted this trade with Eastern team, not strengthen the division rival.

Well to get such an impressive young Dman like Franson I would have traded even better players, and if detroit's offer was a lot better than torontos i'm sure they wouldn't care if it's within the division.

You hear this a lot, but SJ has dealt with Vancouver (Ehrhoff) and Minnesota (Burns). Toronto and Boston anyone?

Or Anaheim and Edmonton, for example. LA and Edmonton recently. Colorado and LA with the first dealing of Smyth.

I think those are a little different though, because both sides got decent deals. In this situation Nashville is handing away a solid defensemen for very little in exchange.

Nashville took a step back, but in the future they still have this guy coming and replacing Franson.

100 points is a lot for a defenceman.

Yeah but 5'9 isn't exactly 6'5, size is a big thing in the NHL.. but he would be a darn good offensive defenseman

nashville cleared cap space to sign both suter, weber and rinne long-term to proper big money contracts.

smart GM's make good moves to secure their futures, not just ********* one year stop gap monkey descions.
