I guess I'm going against the mass again here.

Doughty makes the team better, sure. No way do I give up Price though. A franchise goalie > A franchise defenseman. We potentially have that in Price, and we also potentially have a franchise defenseman in Subban. Bernier is too big a risk, and I for one do not want to see a game of musical chairs between Bernier and Budaj, a la Huet/Aebischer fiasco.

Exactly.

Price is a franchise goalie, and Subban looks to be a franchise Dman. Habs would be better suited to find that franchise forward now.

Plus, no way you trade for Bernier and Budaj is your back up. We would need a two goalie tandem like Bernier has in Quick. Bernier to me in Montreal would be under the spot light too much, not only is he a Quebecer, he is in the biggest position out there that takes heat from the media and fans.

I can't imagine the Habs trading PK, Price and MaxPac for any player short of Crosby. They are the cornerstone building blocks to which we should add to, not trade. Considering Doughty may not want to sign, he'll be traded at a discount, not a premium as is the case with these situations. Look at all the time this happens and the team trading the player rarely if ever gets fair market value for the traded player.

A package of picks and prospects with a roster player or two is the standard package. Something like Tinordi/Leblanc, a 1st, Weber and AK. I'm not saying that is a proposal but its normally something like that gets packaged.

How many of you frequent hockey30?

I've been going to their site for a while, and although I find they play the peacock a bit much, they do have some info that seems to stick.

I get the impression that they may have some contacts.

Anyways this morning they state that Doughty, Stamkos and Weber should all sign in the next few days.

I can't imagine that the Habs would trade Subban, even if it was for Doughty. I mean Subban had 9 more points than Doughty in his first year in the league.

Subban -- 14G 24A
Doughty -- 6G 21A

Who knows what next year brings for Subban? One thing I hope next year brings for Subban are PIM under 100 ;-)

Me too? I mean there's the main "trades and rumors" board, but I've never come here to discuss rumors. I thought this board was for *****ing about Scott Gomez...have I been wrong all this time?

He is implying there is a double standard in place since HF allows Eklund rumors to be discussed (the hockey site he mentions being HockeyBuzz) while his are not allowed. At least, that is how i read it.

What about that rumour with the Blackhawks from Tim Sassone.

I would love to get Viktor Stallberg for Moen or draft picks.

Playing with the depth chart
Posted by TimS on Sun, 07/03/2011 - 10:21
It's not easy figuring out how the Blackhawks' depth chart might look approaching training camp.

Like I wrote in Sunday's paper, assuming restricted free agents Michael Frolik, Chris Campoli and Viktor Stalberg are signed at some point in the near future, it would give the Hawks 27 players in the mix for jobs in the fall. That includes Ben Smith, Marcus Kruger, Jeremy Morin, Kyle Beach and Brett McLean.

It certainly would seem general manager Stan Bowman is going to make a trade, particularly with a hole still to fill at center on the second line.

The longer negotiations with Frolik, Campoli and Stalberg drag on, the more chances improve that they could be in play for a trade. Bowman was pretty adamant the other day that he would get his three RFAs signed, but it would seem as if the players have lost a lot of leverage with the recent additions of Andrew Brunette, Steve Montador, Sean O'Donnell, Jamal Mayers and Dan Carcillo.

“I'm confident we're going to get them signed,” Bowman said.

Here's how the depth chart might look today:

Forwards

Brunette – Toews – Kane

Smith – Sharp – Hossa

Frolik – Bolland – Olesz

Carcillo – Mayers – Bickell

Spares – Stalberg, Kruger, Morin

No way Id move PK for Doughty either, I like PK better. Another reason not to do it is PK is in final year of EL contract, even if he has another good year he wouldnt get the money Doughty is no doubt looking for now, so would it be worth paying Doughty $2M-$3M more than PK ?. I wouldnt think so, moves have to be made with Cap in mind.

At least. Especially if he does as good or better than last season.

Let's try to win (or play for the Cup) a.s.a.p. with him as our goalie. There is no one in the system to take his place.

It still is a big part of the board, but I wouldn't call it the "premise". It is Hockey's Future after all.

Anyway that's getting off-topic...no point discussing the site's mission statement. This topic is here so let's use it for its intended purposes.

Count me in as one of those who wouldn't swap PK for Doughty...and also wouldn't touch Price either.

It would have to be a pretty special player for Habs to move Price/Subban IMO and while I agree Doughty is a pretty special player, I think Subban is/will be just as good.

No, he was talking about a hockey forum where eklund's rumours are allowed to be discussed but not his.

He then said habs posters and mods are the best
