The question is do we get a fourth line center via UFA signing? I think we should.

Younger, faster, and mostly bigger players who will use their size to punish the opposition players.

Im thinking he will acquire via trade someone who fits in with the plan of this team. Younger guy with some size. Im pretty confident he wont pick up a stop gap for the 3 rd line. Im usually wrong though

Don't think this has been mentioned: Near the bottom of the JF Jacques google/translate article it mentions that PG is talking w
Chicago about Bryan Bickel, 6'4 223, 37 points last season.(It shows the link as to gohockeygo.com ).
Don't think he's a fighter but 37 pts w that kind of size in only his
4th year makes me take notice. Of course he wouldn't be cheap
but if the price isn't too steep.....
Myself, I'd consider moving a prospect like Kristo if I thought Bickel
still has a bit more upside. Speed and skill for size and skill. But I haven't actually followed Bickel so i'm only generalising in my opinion at present.

Also, at "insider.espn.go.com/nhl/rumours" it says habs and hawks are maybe talking Stalberg or Frolik. I only read the headline; I'm not a subscriber.
All I can say is that Frolik looked Very good in the playoffs so he would definately interest me. I didn't really notice Stalberg much so I have no opinion on him right now. No idea what we may be offering.

Get a decent center like Arnott. Give him 1 year contract and turn around to dump Gomez.

Arnott got 31 pts last season, and he's over 35 yo... it's not like it would be an improvement over Gomez...

true, but you expect your 2nd line C to put some ppints on the board too... and while we all know Gomez had an atrocious season, he still managed to get a few more pts than Arnott...

and, at 31, we can expect Gomez to rebound... 36 yo Arnott ? likely to keep slowing down...

You still need production from a top 2 center, just "having size and using it" doesn't put goals in the net. I expect Gomez to rebound.

So do I. Eklund says E4 for Kovalev to the Habs. Hope it's not true.

At this point in his career, the only thing I could promise him is a try-out and that's it.

At first I didn't like it but then I thought he'd make a great 3rd liner and add some more size to our line up. Also, Eller is out for the first part of the season and we need to bolster and add some depth to our offense. At a reasonable price, I really don't mind him on our roster.

Cammy Pleks Cole
Max PAC Gomez Gio
AK DD JP

Pretty nice top 3 if you ask me.

What's so nice about a player whose last 3 seasons in points went
65 points, then
45 points, then
19 points (in a contract year!!)

What's next?

I guess Montreal is looking for another 3rd line winger if those reports were to be true. I'd much rather see them get a tough guy instead.

Those are pretty good numbers for a bottom 6 guy. In fact it's better than any if our current bottom 6 and some top 6 guys on our roster. I think it depends on salary.

Any extra player to be added to this team needs to have some toughness. At D and on the bottom 6 forwards. Unless it is to replace Gomez at the C of the first lines.
