another smallish winger, but he has 20g/50pt+ upside and fits in with our group as far as his skating goes.

Cammy-Pleks-Hudler
MaxPac-Gomez-Gionta
Cole- DD/Eller- Kost

that could be a very hard top9 for any team to match up with!

Simply put? No.

On the Kovalev/Dumont rumour, I'd take Dumont as depth player instead. He would at least fit in with Martin's system.

Why on god's green earth would we stick Cole on the 3rd line to put a smurf with Cammy and Plekanec?

Instead of Dumont or Kovalev I'd go for a tough winger like Winchester that can add a few goals and some toughness.

That being said since we have the room maybe we can add Dumont and Winchester. If it's a 1 year deal Dumont won't cost us much, worse case we put him on waivers and send him AHL if he struggles.

Exactly! And on top of that, we are the last team in the NHL that needs another smurf in their lineup.

Excellent!

So we can confidently discuss how we believe his OFFICIAL rumours, and do so in this particular thread.

What did Caisse say recently?

Dumont has no hands. Why land Dumont if we already have Darche?

Does Hudler play with grit or does he shy from contact?

If we like his grit, he could play with Eller and Kostitsyn, Cole with Pleks and Cammy, and Patches with Gomez and Gionta.

I have no problem getting Hudler for depth/3rd line as long as he doesn't cost a fortune. He had 57 points in 08-09 but was caught a bit in the numbers game last year. He makes 2.875 against the cap and will be a UFA after this coming year. Unless he is unhappy there, not sure why Detroit would dump him as they have 7 mil in cap room and not a lot of openings.

I wouldn't trade Weber for 3rd line help, he'll be a top 4-5 guy within 2 years if JM gives him a shot. He handled the minutes very well last year before they brought in Mara Wisniewski and Sopel.

Rather than do taht trade, I'd sign one of...Langenbrunner, Stillman, Dumont, Prospal, Miettinen, Zherdev or Dumont.

You must really like Dumont.

Langenbrunner is far and away the best on that list.

Not liking hearing/reading names like Kovalev/Dumont being thrown around the Habs...neither of them are fits for the Habs.

They're top 6 players, who are way past their primes and can't keep up anymore...and they're completely useless on a 3rd or 4th line.

What about Antti Miettinen for Eller's left wing?
