Great trade by DW! Getting a star for less money and more years on the contract is a great deal. Can't wait to see Thornton feeding Havlat! Thanks Dany, and good luck to ya

...... and Heater has been hurt the last two playoffs but played through it. Not sure there is any more concern with injury either way anymore.

Connected my ass. Pollack lives in this area, he should be able to dig a bit on this.

Pollack should be embarrassed - his only sport to cover is hockey.

Anyhow, wow! Shocked and like it, I think. Now we have plenty of room to re-sign Juicy and Burnsie.

that and he'll be luck to score 50 points this year, and that's on Philly's top line.

Pollack is tremendously overworked, must be facing tremendous pressure due to the nature of his work, and has a lot of work besides just "covering hockey".

Damn. Never would have guessed that with how unhappy Wild fans were with Havlat.

This just keeps getting better and better.

I guess Pollack just wasn't working the corners hard enough.

Boom!

I'm not good at talking about the numbers (Hell, I barely understand capgeek) or writing the pairings and defenses in posts like the experts here, but my first thought on this trade was man Doug Wilson is Ruthless this offseason. First Setoguchi and then Heatley? Holy Cow.

So without reading most of this thread, is this a good trade and is it possible to pick up a speedy (Non Hanzeus) forward/center/winger before the season starts?

Holy... I was shocked for like 5 seconds, then wanted to make lines...
Marleau - Thornton - Havlat

I LOVE DOUG WILSON. No seriously, In my opinion, this is the best off-season ever. Traded someone who was slowing down for someone who was speeding up. Signed Zeus (who I wanted for awhile due to defense). Got a mobile puck mover (Burns ). And now traded a depreciated asset for one with higher upside.

Whatever. Is he working harder than Dreger? Puhleaze. He has 1 team in 1 sport to cover, yet Dreger scoops him.

I wouldn't mind signing Drury for the right price.

Havlat is one of the fastest players in the league. For all I care we could sign ****ing Craig Rivet and put him at forward and we'd still be fast enough. Havlat makes up for everyone elses slowness. Seriously, one of the top 5 skaters in the league.

WOW! Never saw this coming, even in the most ridiculous of circumstances!! Great move by DW, what's with the European movement lately??? (Signing Handzus, trading for Havlat, drafting a Russki)

Are you serious? Who cares? Dreger is probably the most well respected hockey insider in the world. He has access to info that Pollack does not. Get off his you know what

Big fan of the moves made by San Jose recently.

Especially vandermeer and Havlat.

Good luck next year, hope you guys like vandy as much as we did (Most of us) on the oilers side. Never seen anybody smile so big while feeding/being fed punches by someone with 2+ inches and 15+ pounds on him.

Brodie Brazil passed on Havlat's twitter which hasn't been used since the Olympics. I look forward to reading all of his tweets....

Well, we had Scott Nichol smiling while feeding/being fed punches by someone with 8+ inches and 50+ pounds on him. We'll miss his grit, a lot, so we know what you mean about Vandy.
