Sounds about right, I thought maybe he'd get a 2 year deal but sounds like that would've put him to a UFA.
Teddy was a good suprise to most last year. I for one wanted him on the team from the start, but this year he has to bring a new element. He can't just be a guy that goes for the big hit. Time to make that next step. Whether it's just to being a d-man that doesn't hurt you on the ice or if it's to being a shutdown d-man.
I like Peckham's work ethic. Hope he can fine tune the game a little this year.
Matt Greene is a good comparable for Pecks and lets not forget Greene only really came on as 24-25 year old. Hw as playing far more sheltered minutes than Peckham did last year and Peckham faired well. I expect this year to be good for Peckham, if there is a healthy Whitney, Gilbert, Smid and depending on how well Barker plays, Peckham could be a great bottom pairing guy this year. Not that he needs motivation to play physical but Sutton on the side lines will motivate him to make sure he's finishing his hits.

Robin Regher-lite is my hope for him, defensively solid, meaner then a wolverine.
I'm dissapointed Oilers board. A thread about Lombardi *****ing about Smytty goes like 22 pages and a thread about Theo re-signing only goes 3.
Seems a little odd that you'd expect similar discussion about a situation as unique as the Smyth trade as an RFA without arbitration rights re-signing for about what you'd expect him to sign for.
There was never a question of whether or not Peckham would be back, or how much he would command. This signing was about as rutine as they get.

Hey I wasn't expecting this thread to go 22 pages. But only 3? I think the Lander appreciation thread got more hits.

I think that is highest possible outcome. His hockey sense isn't elite, not horrible or anything. I just don't see him every being more than a #3/4 guy. Not an insult but a Matt Greene type with 3-5 goals a year.

I'd argue that Peckham is a slightly better 23 year old than Greene was. He should be at least as good as Greene someday.
23 year old stats....
Peckham: 71 games played in 2010-11
Greene: 78 games played in 2006-07
Goals/Points
Peckham: 3 goals and 13 points
Greene: 1 goal and 10 points
I'd have a hard time suggesting Peckham has been better than Greene at any level, and I'm a big Peckham fan. I don't think he has the same kind of upside as Greene either, but he will most likely have a lot more points when it's all said and done.
