And to steal a line from Jaws "Thats a bad hat, Harry"
I thought of a different movie:
Oh, this is the worst-looking hat I ever saw. What, when you buy a hat like this I bet you get a free bowl of soup, huh?
Oh, it looks good on you though.

Don't care what number he has on, as long as he puts up points and successfully runs the PP.

No. It's a bunch of garbage. Metrics do not work in the NHL, as it is much more of a team game than an individual game compared to baseball (where they work very well).
As a Stars fan I can tell you that Richards is not the best defensively, Gaborik and Richards will see a lot of goals against unless they have a very good defensive winger. Eriksson was Richards and Neal's stopgap defensively on that line, allowing them to get up the ice quicker while he did his magic. I don't see a winger like that on the Rangers line up, so hopefully the better D and Lundy will even it out.
But be ready to not be amazed by Richards' defensive game. Especially on the point where he'll cough up the puck and be responsible for a few SHG a season.

Richards was never amazing defensively. But Dubinsky is solid defensively, and I do think the defense and Lundqvist will help keep the goal differential with that line just fine.
He's not going to be worse than Erik Christensen defensively.

People don't give Gaborik enough credit for his defensive play. He's no Datsyuk but he does a decent job.
As for the SHG, he can't possibly be any worse than Rozsival was. Anything better than that is a success in my book.
