Tough call here, but I'm going with the ultimate wild card - Petrov. He's got 1st line upside and I just think he's been tossed around and used improperly in the KHL. We'll never know what we have until we get him to North America (and HOPEFULLY that happens next year), but I have some faith we have some real potential here.
I will say it was MUCH EASIER to add Wishart than to choose Petrov. If Wishart isn't added next well then...I don't know what to say.
I have a feeling I will be voting for Donovan for a while before he is finally voted in. This kid has some great skill.
Add Wishart
I'm with you on both counts. Matt Donovan followed up a break-out year 2years ago as an impact freshman at Denver and an impressive World Junior Championship performance winning a gold medal, with an even more impressive Sophomore season and signed a contract late and put up 5 points in 6 games for an offensively challenged Bridgeport team. The kid is the real deal and I have him ahead of everyone else at this point. Not even a difficult decision, though I have high hopes for Anders Lee (who hasn't gotten hardly any love thus far).
Wishart is an easy call here, Ullstrom the only challenger, and I guess Rhetts performance last year warrants some discussion.
cc add rhett Ratty...I cannot see why people do not believe in this guy. His numbers were very good for a team that was not very good in the AHL.
I think he should be higher on our list considering his production and coming from such a great school like Univ. of Denver. Just an opinion.
Why is cizikas getting so much praise around here? IMO lee is a better prospect anyways kabanov add wishart
Cizikas is considered a safe bet to be major contributor on an NHL team. His worst case is that he is a 3rd Line Center used to shut down the opponents top threat. Add to that his leadership abilities and the performances he put forth in the Memorial Cup run as well as the World junior tournament and you have a future fan favorite, with SOME offensive potential. I didn't vote for him and view a few others ahead of him, but I get it.

Cizikas is more proven, and has posted 2 consecutive PPG seasons in the OHL. I wouldn't be suprised at all to see him playing for the Isles at some point next season. I also think that the projections of him topping out as a 3rd liner are severely short sighted.

Lee was MVP of the ushl two years ago and had a point a game in his first college season son how is one more proven than the other?
