Backstrom's NMC was limited to begin with, and it hasn't gone into effect yet (you can't have an NTC of any kind during what would still be your RFA years).

Let's just hope that it doesn't go the way of the Witt/McPhee RFA negotiations...
Do you think when Backstrom flew in from Sweden he required an aisle seat or his off season conditioning now allows him to take a middle seat?

Think GMGM was doing his best Michael Corleone and during the meal with Green and Backstrom got up and went to the bathroom and when he came back he whacked/traded both of them.

Lots of class and strong leadership IMHO for GMGM to fly out there, look at these "leaders" in their eyes, and convey his message.

Whatever it is he said, I believe it was firmly delivered. Good show GMGM.

And yes I believe Alzner is now 1.162x more pissed than yesterday morning. Especially since he can't spell and nooone wants his free Dirks' tickets.

At this point in Backstrom's off-season conditioning, he's probably up to about 100 meatballs per day. He almost certainly required an aisle seat.

It's kind of a shame Johansson looked so good, because I've always wanted to see what would happen if Semin got an extended shot at center, just to see. Maybe it'd make his two way game even more prominent.

We might see the first ever hooking penalty on a face-off.

GMillerTSN:

For those saying Washington is over the cap and will have to make a trade to sign Alzner, Tom Poti missed most of last year, likely goes LTI

Maybe now people can stop with the ridiculous rumors, trade proposals, and offer sheet crap... but probably not.

A rumor of Vokoun to washington for a paltry 1.5 would have been considered ridiculuous. Getting a 1st and 2nd for Varly would have been considered riDONKulous. The poster would have been reminded young goalies don't fetch much in trades.

Talking about Alzner getting an offer shouldnt increase the odds of it happening. A GM would never be curious what a single person on this board thinks, would he?

Semin having to play D in front of his own net is a scary thought.

I had this thought of GMGM signing Owen Nolan for some reason. I think it is due to the long summer.

On a cheap one year contract why not? If Jagr can make a comeback so can Nolan no?

I think he'll sign with someone but not for the money Jagr received. A team with a roster spot for veteran experience might.

Killing the offseason with speculation.

As usual, your gut instinct is backwards. You think I dont like Alzner? The heat getting to you?

Instead of phishing for doom and gloom, why not give some feedback on it. If you are say Boston's GM, or a GM on a good team with cap room needing help on D, why would you not throw out an offer. I didnt know you wanted to get involved with the discussion mr helper. Would you consider an offer on him.

If you advocate that you wouldnt do it, isnt it ironic that in fact you would be the one that doesnt want Alzner? If you wouldn't make an offer, I could swear that you dont want him.

Nice how I spun that back right at you huh.

Ok if you were Chiarelli what kind of offer sheet would you throw Alzner's way?

I think if GMGM stated some things to Green and Backstrom... he might have stated much more to BB.

What BB should think about through the summer? New entering the zone schemes? New PP methodics? Why we don't hear about new assistant coaches?

Moving OV from the point doesn't cut it. 5% of HFB know this (c)

I agree I dont think he will ask for as much as Jagr either. What are your thoughts on him filling the 2C void?

I dont claim to be an expert on putting a price tag on defensive dmen.

But dunno, picking a number out of a hat, I think $3,013,433 per year is a decent offer. And probably more than George is offering.

With the talks of Hannan still being a top priority of ours, what would the pairings be if he is resigned?

the trade threads poping up are getting absurd, these other fans think the caps are looking to give green and semin away for free.
