Sad to see Kolbe go. I really liked him but I'm looking forward to hearing Walton as I've only heard great things about him. If Steve has to go, this is probably the best choice to take over.
Not sure of youre kidding...Kolbe was terrible, or worse

Walton can be as good as he wants in the AHL, it's still a matter of seeing how that translates to the NHL. Personally I have no expectations since Boudreau and McPhee are still at the helm.

Not kidding at all. I will admit that I'm biased as I'm a MSU guy as is Kolbe. I didn't listen to Kolbe often because I was usually watching on TV but when I did hear Kolbe, I liked what I heard. I also liked that Kolbe was a hometown guy. He called 1,000 games so someone else must've liked him too

It's not that he wasn't likable, he was just damn confusing. You'd be listening to a game and really have no idea where the play was. He'd be rambling on something or other with the puck in front of Neuvy and then seconds later he's screaming "score" with the horn going off and I'd be like huh? How did the puck just go 180 feet in three seconds? Big chunks of action always got missed.

Vogel's omission of well wishes, appreciation, and gosh darn-its for Kolbe was er-a rather obvious.

I was no kolbe fan, but this is cold:

Happy to have Walton though. Can't say I end up listening to more than a few minutes of radio pxp every now and then, but it's an improvement.

I love it...Jonathan Warner is opening his big fat non-hockey knowledgable mouth. Hopefully he's the next one gone.

If they wanted to make a change, fine. But if they really let him know via text, that's beyond classless.

I have to agree if true....that reeks of unprofessionalism. Other than that, what exactly are they saying was told to Kolby via text, that Walton got the job?

If so, who cares?

If they told Kolby his services were no longer needed via text, then there's a problem.

Excellent, I won't have to buy the NHL android app to get the other team's radio feed in my car.

they informed him last month they were opening up the job and said he was welcome to apply... so this should have come as no surprise to him

Well, you know the Caps do have a history of not exactly being deft with handling departures.

If you are referring to the issue with Eric Belanger last year, I think a lot of that mishap lays at the feet of Belanger's agent Joe Tacopina. Tacopina's a lawyer that just got a NYPD officer off a **** charge. Tacopina is a talented lawyer, but that does not necessarily translate well into become a player's agent.

The Capitals texted him to inform him that he hadn't been chosen. He did not have a job with the Capitals at the time, so there was nothing for him to be fired from. Really, they didn't even need to contact him at all, but probably did so because of his past relationship with the organization.

Also, dpj0122 is the guy who was outraged that the Capitals-Penguins Super Bowl Sunday game wasn't canceled because of the snow storm. Everyone should disregard whatever he says.

Kolbe said something on the bench at the dave fay memorial game about the backstage politics and how he knew he had no chance of coming back. I could be wrong as i was about 5-8 feet away when he was talking about it, i could have mis-heard some things.

I'm guessing Kolbe not being brought back had nothing to do with politics. It more than likely had to do with him sucking at his job.
