In other words, he thinks Enroth might be vulnerable, especially if he's on a two-way deal.

This is starting to seem a bit odd to me. Sabres haven't announced it and I think it's because of the Enroth situation. If he knows the Sabres signed MacIntyre, do you really think he's going to be okay with a 2 way deal? MacIntyre is saying that he has a chance to backup in Buffalo from the get-go.

If that's the case, Enroth won't be very happy. He was yanked all over the place last year and it can't sit well with him knowing that he has competition from another AHL goalie to backup Miller. Enroth played above and beyond expectations in Buffalo last season and to think that he still hasn't made it to a full time gig has to piss him off.

At this point I wouldn't be surprised to see Enroth hold off even longer for a 1 way deal. I know that there were rumblings of Europe tossed around a couple of years ago. I hope they don't re-surface.

I don't think this is a problem. Teams usually give those career-AHLers some false hope that they can earn a spot on the NHL-roster while those chances are very slim at best.
I'm sure Darche, DiPenta and a bunch of other guys thaught they had a shot at the NHL when they signed here, while in fact they were always penciled in for the AHL. I think the situation with MacIntyre is pretty much the same.
Also, MacIntyre might have thought that someone would give him the chance to earn a backup-spot and after a few days on the market saw that that wasn't the case. Then he chose a team that at least has an unproven backup.

I think you guys are looking too much into it. He left Hamilton to come to Rochester because of the better chance of him getting into the NHL. Enroth is still an RFA. MacIntyre could be thinking that Enroth doesn't sign or is traded giving him a better chance to be called up.

There was a slim chance of that happening in Hamilton with the back up earning $1m+ per.

Excellent signing for the Amerks. MacIntyre has been one of the top goalies in the AHL for many years. And he'll in no way present any serious challenge to Enroth for the Buffalo backup spot IMO. I would imagine barring injuries the closest MacIntyre will get to Buffalo is being the 3rd goalie on their european vacation to start the season. After that it's back to Roch.

At the AHL level, he's no scrub. Sure, he'll probably never get a shot at the NHL. But Golisano would probably not wanted to pay spend more than the bare minimum on AHL vets, which are almost always needed for AHL teams to make deep runs.

That's two more games than this years Conn Smythe Trophy winner had at the same age.
