this "new" agent was also Scott Niedermayer's agent, I don't believe he needs much teeth cutting

Does anyone think a very minor detail could be the possible realignment next year? Maybe Shea does a 1 year arb deal and stays an RFA and see's what division we end up in. Probably not, just a thought I had.

If that is his mindset, then I think he'd be taking his importance WAY too seriously. "I'll only play against THESE teams" is as bad as "I refuse to play on the team selecting first in the draft".

There is no i in team, but there are a couple in infantile.

There is no way that is possible.

A one year deal through arbitration will not affect his UFA eligibility. He will not be 27 before July 1, 2013, and we he not have seven seasons in the NHL. He only played 28 regular season games in 2005-2006. That season will not count.

ESPN reported Weber is UFA in 1 year.
TSN reported Weber is UFA in 2 years.

Who has better credibility?

Does it depend on regular season games only or does post season count toward games played?

Doesn't matter. We only played five post season games that year bringing his total of NHL games to 33. The year still isn't eligible as a full season.

edit: to answer you question, I'm pretty sure they do count, but someone like 101st or SLake could better answer you here.

Accrued seasons are based on regular season games a player is on the active roster. 40 games for a skater, 30 for a goalie.

Either way we are screwed. Shea needs to be locked up to a long term deal or traded. Losing guys like Hamhuis is one thing. Weber another. Our franchise cannot ever lose Weber like that.

I think ESPN owns TSN (minority of it, anyways) and ESPN is for America and TSN is for Canada. At least, that's what I always thought given the majority of Canadians won't have a clue what ESPN is but even more know exactly what TSN is and the channel number.

i don't think ownership particularly matters in the case of content, anyway. They don't consult each other. If the CBA is to be trusted, by full definition, Weber should be RFA after this season.

So according to Oiler's fans Shea Weber is theirs

http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?p...3#post35357563

Apparently in 2014-2015 Weber is going to be playing for the Stanley Cup winning Oilers

Well, according to 90% of the NHL, we don't even deserve a team, so...not really surprising.

I don't know what I'd do if Ryan Smyth is still playing in 2014.

Let's just say Shea and Poile are not even close to a deal (which I don't think they are) what do we do? I think shea wants a very short term deal (1 to 2 years) and Poile wants 5-infinity. Realistically, this can't end well for the Preds. It is my belief (speculation plus some information that was recently given) that Weber wants to see if Poile is really serious about winning. If he is, I think shea will sign a long term deal. If not, I think Weber maybe be traded sooner than later.

Realistically, it is all up to Poile to prove Nashville is a contender. Which, of course, we won't be until we add scoring. Time to stop hoarding assets.

I agree.. its a shame ive stopped believing anything will happen to improve the offense.

No inside information, but this argument makes the most sense to me. But I can't imagine Poile changing his cautious, deliberate approach. To keep Weber, Poile will have to roll the dice, and that cuts against just about every move Poile has ever made. I think Poile is touting the return of Radulov, the missing piece. And I also think Weber ain't buying it.

So do people really believe that the difference between Weber signing a long term deal is whether or not we add a $4M winger? Weber has been around a long time. He knows how the organization works. We're on a shoestring budget, and any bad moves can handcuff us for a long time.

The market is bone dry out there. We are just 1 of many teams looking for a "top six winger"
