I wanted to start a thread to see how many kids on each particular teams will be graduating to pro or due to age.. So as a Petes fan.. Ill start with Peterborough.
Age:
F- Joey West
D- Jonathon Jasper
Potential Pro:
F- Matt Puempel
Although very very unlikely, Puempel does have an very slim outside shot at cracking Ottawas lineup.
All of our other NHL draft picks are un-realistic to even debate.
Feel free to post on your team as I'm very interested to see how many kids teams like Niagara and Ottawa and others are losing.
Potential Pro:
F- Brandon Saad
No question he is gone next year. It will do him no good to stay in Saginaw for another season.
D- Brandon Archibald
I'd say he's got about a 60% chance he'll be in the AHL next year.
F- Garrett Ross
Although he hasn't been drafted, he did improve his offensive production almost four fold from the previous season. Add the newly aquired offense to he gritty style of play and I wouldn't be surprised to see him sign with someone in the offseason and play AHL next year.

Potential NHLPA contract issues may chnage all this. It seems every year there is a player or 3 in the O we wouldnt have guessed makes the jump so well see.

I agree and yes an NHL lockout would change all of this but it is fun to atleast debate on how many players teams could potentially lose.

All the right players for sure. I think I would put McKegg between pro and question mark pro though, he is a tweener I think. Swap Houser into long shot (although I disagree, that's just what I think it will be) and I would put Maatta in questionable (if he does tryouts as well as he has this playoffs and depending on the team I think he could make it). I agree that we won't be seeing Tinordi, Watson or Namestnikov again on the Knights
Age - Kyle Peirerra
- Stephen Gaskin
- Brandon Foote
I think that will be it, the only other guys eligible to go pro would be Cody McNaughton and Francis Menard. It's unlikely either of them leaves. Matt Finn could be the only other guy that would get a chance to make an NHL roster, but as a mid-late first round pick it's likely he's back as well.
Pro - Crescenzi (50/50 to make Marlies), Rieder (5% chance to make Oilers), Murphy (40% chance to make Canes), Gibson (50/50 as he's AHL eligible), Faksa (10% chance to make NHL)
Those are all my handicapped odds. In my opinion, all of the possibles should return, but I think there's a decent chance we lose at least one or two.
And Spott's only OA option is Crescenzi, so expect trades.
Those 3 sggested for release/trade will not occur until at least Oct and I doubt it
happens to all 3
I would be very tempted just to keep Posa. Czinder improved but he's still very soft. Braithwaite I wish they never acquired him because to rationalize the acquisition they will probably keep him around and take ice time away from a young guy.
Jamie Wise (most likely CIS)
David Corrente (most likely CIS)
Brandon Maxwell (should be signed to an amateur tryout or play in ECHL)
Pro:
No one unless Brace gets drafted and sticks in the AHL and or Percy as a hell of a training camp and makes the leafs but i don't see either happening. We should be returning pretty much our entire roster except OA's.

I like your handicapping for the most part. I see Faksa a little higher but not much and Crescenzi being a little less. He did not overly impress this past year but was for the most part consistant.

Crescenzi turning pro will depend on other OA Leaf picks.......ie: Greg McKegg.
Not sure if the Leafs will want to have too young of a AHL team.

The only guy I'm worried may not return is Faksa. I mean, one or more of the others have a chance of moving on but in reality:
- Murphy needs defensive work (still prone to turnovers). And, he needs to come back so he can be cut at the WJC camp for a third time.
- Crescenzi is still a step behind in his skating as far as the AHL goes, IMO. Another year of junior where the Leafs will ask him to further improve his skating and offense is likely.
- Unless Gibson is the starter at the NHL or AHL level, there's no reason to have him make the jump to pro to ride the pines. He'll get most of the games next year (40-45) plus another WJC appearance.
- Rieder I'm expecting back because the Oilers already don't have room on their roster for the offensive talent they have now. The Swedes that have been up and down from the minors will get spots on the big club before Rieder.
Faksa, on the other hand, impressed more and more as the season went on and really upped his game in the playoffs. Too bad his linemates lost their mojo in the post season or he'd have even been more productive in the post season. If he goes in the top ten of the draft, anything can happen.
Bulls:
Age
Luke Judson (commited Univ)
Jordan Mayer (?)
Adam Payerl (Signed Pitts-AHL)
Possible OA-Pro
Stephen Silas-possible AHL but doubt he will get signed, should be back for OA
Brenden Morris-maybe Univ, wont be back
Jason Shaw- hometown boy-might get a look at OA spot, led the team in plus-minus
Joesph Cramarrosa-drafted by Ducks but has yet to sign, most likely leaning towards coming back for OA season to play with his younger bro
Sounds like many teams are already looking at other overagers thoughout the league to fill spots! Should be many available.
Likely gone unless there's a work stoppage in NHL:
Toffoli(signed), Prince(unsigned), Cajkowski(unsigned), Smith(signed), McFarland(signed), Mrazek(signed)
Outside chance of graduating
Graovac (unsigned, but his play in the playoffs would have garnered a lot of attention), Ceci (90% he's back but you never know, it'll depend on who drafts him)
Going pro - Visentin/F. Hamilton/Kuhnhackl/Oleksiak
OHL or NHL - Strome/Ritchie/D. Hamilton
Drafted but could return as OA - Beukeboom/Shipley
There is real potential to have all three OHL or NHL guys back and they will be used as trade bait as the deadline approaches.
IDK i think sence Kuhnhackl missed time with his Knee Surgery that Pitt might look at sending him back to the OHL instead of wasting a year on his contract in the AHL but this will depend on how he shows up at camp. i think Strome has the best chance to make the NHL while Dallas and Boston like to have there Prospect develop so Hamilton and Ritchie may play the pre season and then get sent back down
