Hagman to STL

Just came across this, this morning. Looks like we can free-up another 3mill with this one. I actually would rather have Hagman gone, rather then Stajan ...as he is pretty much on the decline. Very interesting.

Via twitter:

@********** Hardy Soup
STL and CGY held talks as well. Hagman could go the other way. CGY wanna dump his salary. STL would llike risk. Could be done soon

RogMillions Roger Millions
If a deal for Hagman does happen it would free up 3 Mill for Flames..but just rumour..does tie in with Feasters comment Tues.

Makes a lot of sense, only if we are not giving up another pick. It would be nice to get back a 2nd. That would make me feel a lot better about the Regehr trade.

@********** Hardy Soup?

I'd need to see a more... reputable source.

Not too sure if HHR is reputable, but what caught my eye, was Roger Millions reply.

I think Roger was just speculating.

Given that nobody picked up Hagman off waivers last year, doesn't it seem as though the most likely recipients of him and his contract would be:
- teams with cap floor issues
- teams we send deal sweeteners (like a draft pick) to?

I agree with posters here who feel we couldn't get so lucky. If we're getting rid of Hagman, we're either taking bad salary back or sending an asset away.

Even if we're sending Hagman for teams to reach the salary floor, don't expect any sort of significant return.

As long as we move him out and take nothing in (wouldn't say no to picks/prospects), it's a win for us.

At least we will probably beat St.Louis in the Western Conference, hopefully giving us a better pick then the one we gave to the Sabres.

Since they just signed Arnott and Langenbrunner it seems unlikely they'd be going after Hagman at this point.

Not me. I won't be sad to see Hagman go, but I'd rather have him here over Stajan any day.

Wouldn't count on it now after the Arnott and Langenbruner signings.

I hope it's gonna be true We have a lot of LW ( Tango, Glencross, Bourque, Baertschi, Jackman ). Jackman also can play as left winger.
IMO Hagman is overpay.
We could make a more cap space

I would love for the Flames to somehow acquire Andy McDonald from the Blues.

That would be a great fit IMO. Too bad we have so many centres on contract.

I can see you taking Hags over Stajan because of his contract and the good 2-way game ect. but the reality is Stajan will put up more points at the end of the day and has a NTC and a harder term to move.

In a market where a 37 year old Arnott got almost 3M with bonuses I will take Stajan @ 3.5M as he will probably put up 45 points at least. He had a terrible year that started off with an injury and played the 4th line to end it and still put up 31 points. I expect he will be a steady 3rd line minute guy that will get his faceoff game back and put up 45pts.

It's really weird though, what the hell do we do?

(In no particular order): Backlund, Langkow, Stajan, Jokinen

Which one of those 4 is a 4th line centre? Nobody. The only guy I could see working there is Langkow. If Backlund gets put there I'm going to **** on Sutter's lawn.

Tanguay-Backlund-Iginla
Hagman-Stajan-Bourque
Glencross-Jokinen-Moss
Kostopolous-Langkow-Jackman

That's all I can realistically see working, and I don't like it. Stajan and Hagman have not earned the right to play on this team, and we should be giving some kids a shot. Our roster management is very questionable at the moment. I'm not saying Stajan can't bounce back, but regardles he is not a good fit for our lineup. We have Backlund who plays well with our top line and a 2nd line centre in Jokinen. Stajan is not suited for a bottom six role imo.

Seems like he won't be going to STL

Feaster asking price too high for Hagman. Blues take on Arnott and Lagenbrunner via FA. CGY will look elsewhere for hagman

Hagman interest is out there despite him being an underachiever. PHX and Ottawa are searching for depth..Expect him to move

The Calgary Flames want Capitals center Nicklas Backstrom, almost no chance he is moved.
highly doubt this would ever happen

And I want Crosby, Stamkos and Ovechkin in Calgary Flames.
Can you do that for me ?

Seriously, I hope that we move out Hagman
I think couple of teams would be interesting in him.

And who fits on the 1st line? Nobody. I think we should go after BMO for short and cheap.

Honestly I think Stajan will end up playing the majority on that line. If he can win FO's like he has in the past that allows Tangs and Iggy to posses the puck and he is very competent two way and still have skill. Even Lanks might work. Remember he scored 70 points. 50 points playing with Iggy and Tangs is not unrealistic, however it will more likely be under 40.

Unless Stajan decides to stop being an awful player, he's going nowhere near the 1st line.
