He'll get insurance money for the 6 years remining on his contract.

It's sad to see, but Marc Savard will never play another NHL game. Playing again would be too much of a risk to his long term health. Hopefully he will be able to lead a normal and symptom free life soon.

This is true, but Chiarelli rolled the dice and gambled on Savard by signing him long term after the ugly Matt Cooke hit. Money shouldn't be a problem for the Bruins brass, as they're loaded with tons of it spending near the cap almost every year.

He was signed before that.

The extension was signed before the hit, it just kicked in after the season.

No value, sadly. Most Bruins fans are just hoping he can recover enough to live a normal healthy life.

It would be crazy to give him clearance to play again after how long the symptoms have lasted from his last concussion.

I can't see Boston even wanting to trade him. He's a Bruin for life in my eyes. And they have treated him with the utmost respect through this entire ordeal.

As a New Yorker I strongly dislike anything Boston, but have to say, it's hard hating the Bruins.

Savard is done, as much as it pains me to say it.

I understand this in all the other major sports, but I think our hockey teams have a healthy amount of respect for each other, fanbases too for the most part. This is probably because the Bruins (Montreal, Toronto, Flyers) and Rangers (Islanders, Flyers, Devils, Pens) each have plenty of other deep seeded rivalries already.

This.

The only way Savy would get traded is if Boston couldn't afford him..... Just as te Preds just did with Lombardi. Somehow I don't see that being an issue with the B's.

I hope for his sake he cuts his losses and retires...... possibly remains with the team in an advisor role or maybe a scout.

I'm not a B's fan or really a Savy fan, but it was painful to see him in te press box in the playoffs. I feel horrible that this man just missed out on every kids dream when he shoulda been there. He missed probably his only chance to hold it high.......because of a cheap shot.

Savard is done. Concussions have taken there toll on him and wants to be close to his kids in the Toronto area.

He is now trying his hand at golf: http://www.ottawasun.com/sports/golf.../15021306.html
