New Jersey - Winnipeg

To

Ben Maxwell
4th round pick

To

David Clarkson

Devils clear salary and add a somewhat useful body up front.

Jets get a 3rd/4th line RW to help fill out their anemic RW depth.

Thoughts?

I wouldn't mind getting Clarktard, not really sure the Devils would do this though as he is a pretty useful player for them.

As much as I like Clarkson, I like Maxwell more.

I'd rather try and get him for a straight up for a pick (maybe a 3rd?)

Not sure that would be enough, he loves the Devils and pretty sure Lou loves him, don't think he would be the 1st to go if they needed to dump someone for salary cap purposes. I'm sure a deal could be worked out for Zubrus though and I wouldn't be apposed to that.

I thought you were a Devils fan? Jets now?

The fans would do it. Lou wouldn't. He has a father son relationship with Clarkson.

I wouldn't be opposed to the Jets acquiring Zubrus. I love Zubrus. He's a great 3rd liner, and I am 95% sure he can play RW.

[QUOTE=apice3;34801195]I thought you were a Devils fan? Jets now?

I was a diehard Jets fan growing up until they moved. Grew up watching Housley and Hawerchuk kick arse. When they left I refused to keep liking them unless they moved back to Winnipeg and adopted the Devils as my new favorite team. Never honestly expected them to have a team again, but now that they do its a bit odd, because I have been a Devils fan for 14 years and was a Jets fan for 13 years. I am going to cheer for both now because I love both teams, but god help me if they play each other, I won't know what the hell to do.

Yup, can play center and RW. Slightly overpaid for what he does, but for a non-cap team this isn't a huge deal. This would be much more reasonable IMHO.

We're not giving up Zubrus.

And you're going to have a hard time prying Clarkson from Lou. Lou absolutely loves him... just take a look at Clarkson's stat sheet and match it up to his contract...

Zubrus can play all three forward positions reasonably well. He could probably even play defence if they asked him to. He is the epitome of versatility in a hockey player.

And like others have said, Lou won't let Clarkson go for cheap. He values loyalty too much for that.

I would trade Clarkson 1000 times before I traded Zubrus.

I would also take the OP in a heartbeat.

As has been stated a few times Lou wouldn't do it but as a Devils fan I would do it in a second.
