Overkamp- JR is usually reliable, but I prefer to go with the fact that the Blues have announced Arnott but not Langenbrunner.

Just got confirmed minutes ago.

Don't worry all is fine.
JL's deal is now official.

The Langenbrunner signing is now also official, per Blues release. #stlblues

Glad to have Langenbrunner on board. I don't blame him for his antics in New Jersey. 15 years of service and he gets treated like dirt.

Hopefully he find his groove here.

I've liked what the Blues have done so far this off-season (including the signing of Arnott), but this is a poor, poor, poor decision. Hopefully one that they won't regret.

Almost a decade as a Devil..not 15 years (not that it matters; that's still a long time).

I love how other teams think that Devils fans are over exaggerating. We've watched Langenbrunner through good times and bad for the better part of eight seasons. We saw him in his prime which is why it's so awful to see what he's become. Maybe you could blame Brent Sutter for treating him like a spoiled rich kid who could do no wrong, but the fact is it's Jamie who made his own bed. We have every right to feel the way we do.

I was more curious about "...treated like dirt."

I remember when hfboards anointed Langenbrunner the worst captain in the NHL during his early tenure. True, the man eventually grew into that role but he always had a tendency to throw hissy fits.

He clashed with 2 coaches at the end of his Devils career and lead the team to one of the worst calendar years in franchise history. They owed him nothing besides offering a trade (which he turned down). That's all.

Still a fine player and will probably do well with a fresh slate in STL.

eeek overpayment or what. I thought he would get 1.5 max

did they have to reach the cap? Mind you he can help the kids and be a good 3rd liner

Arnott signing I like better

Langenbrunner is going to be in St. Louis for one year in a 3rd line role without the C or even an A on his jersey.

How much trouble do you really think he could be for the Blues as long as the team is doing fine, which they will...this team looks very good on paper(just gotta stay healthy).

I love the signings. Langenbrunner will just play the game and not be asked to be a huge leader. More like a mentor. He's also playing with a friend in Arnott, a USA teammate in Backes and for a GM he knows and clearly respects in Doug Armstrong.

This is a great situation for Langenbrunner.

Blues already had an insanely deep group of forwards before this, nice signing

What's wrong with it?

The Blues get depth, Army signs the guy he wanted and is familiar with. Win-win.

I'll take that coming for a Kings fan.

Kings were rebuilding at the same time the Blues were -- even being built the same way. The Kings have pulled away over the last 2 years, but regardless, I've enjoyed watching them both get better.

In what way does our current roster make it seem like it's going to be a tough year?

We finished barely out of the playoffs last year without Perron, Oshie, 1/2 season of McDonald, 2/3 seasons of Stewart and Shattenkirk, 2 months of Polak, 1 month of Halak, no backup goaltender (which we have now), Arnott, Huskins, Nichol and Langenbrunner.

McDonald-Backes-Perron
Oshie-Berglund-Stewart
Steen-Arnott-Langenbrunner
Sobotka-Nichol-D'Agostini
Crombeen/Reeves

Jackman-Pietrangelo
Huskins-Shattenkirk
Coliacovo-Polak
Cole/Nikitin

Halak-Elliot

Going to be a tough year, indeed.

sorry- some more quick evidence it had nothing to do with kovy..carry on
Nothing you have said in this thread has refuted any belief that Kovy may have been part of the riff that Langenbrunner had with the coach.

You have shown evidence of nothing. Not once.

Too much discussion about off-ice issues and not enough about his actual play.

Langenbrunner can probably put the problems he had in NJ behind him with a fresh start in St. Louis. No big deal.

However, he won’t be able to put his declining game behind him. His legs are gone, his skating is shot, and he just can’t keep up with the play anymore at either end of the rink. Was just an utter failure in Dallas despite getting loads of top-6 icetime.

Awful signing of a player who will quickly be a healthy scratch and I’d wager will be retired by this time next year.

And that's exactly why his endurance shouldn't be an issue here. He will not see a second of top 6 times barring 3 or 4 injuries. He's barely on our 3rd line.

Well that's a huge buzzkill for the Devils. I wanted him to re-sign in Dallas so we could trade 2012's.

Bingo. He's going to be playing 12-14 minutes tops.

Not 18-20

Didn't Langenbrunner play great in the past Olympics?

That wasn't so long ago and this is a new team and a new season.

As a Blues fan, I really hope we get to see Olympic Langenbrunner.
