Another good move by the Blues.

I really like what is going on in St. Louis.

They are bringing in good character guys, previous cup winners... give those young guys some guidance... they may have a shot at playoffs.

The Blues just got bigger down the middle.

Backes, Berglund and now Arnott. And Nichol plays a lot bigger than his size.

He's still got plenty in the tank for another 20 goal season. Jason is a stand-up guy, you Blues fans are going to love him.

The Blues are loaded with 20+ goal scorers

Stewart (35)
Backes (30)
Oshie (25 potential)
Perron (30 if healthy)
MacDonald (20+)
Steen (20+)
Dags (20+)
Berglund (30 potential)
Arnott (20+)
Langenbrunner ? (Maybe 20)

I like the two deals, just sad that this means Vladdy Sobotka is likely a 4th liner now.

Those totals alone would have led the league last year. Factor in 4th line and defense and it shatters it. You might be being optimistic.

Agreed... I was thinking the same thing when I read his post. Theres no way ten forwards on one team score 20+ goals.

Those numbers are all contingent on health. I think Arnott is lucky to see 15 and Lang is lucky to see 10 goals but St. Louis was in the top 10 in scoring last year, so its not that far fetched.

We don't have a legitimate 50 goal scoring threat, but a bunch of 20-30's on the ice I'd prefer over one 50 any day of the week.

Hey we had 6 last year. 10 is a reach but 6-7 is likely.

Each one separately could score what I posted rather easily, but due to injury, it won't happen for all of them in the same year. But, you never know. But wow, the team looks jacked on paper.

Agreed. On paper it looks like 3 good 2nd lines and a 3rd line to me.

Edit: Our D still worries me a bit, even though there's great potential.

Speaking of this.. Anyone know the record for most players with 20+(on one team) in a season?

Of course 6 or 7 can happen, given depth of team and icetime. But 6 or 7, as you agree, is a far cry from ten. I dont know of any guy who gets only 4th line duty/minutes who can score 20 goals... If so, he damn sure shouldnt be on a 4th line.
And thats even IF ALL of the rest of the top 9 scores 20.
To me, this is simply logistically implausible.

Even IF healthy for an entire season, due to ice time and several other factors, it is INCREDIBLY, HIGHLY unlikely for such to happen on ANY team.
And expecting such individually from all said players "EASILY" as you said is also implausible IMO.

I like what the Blues are doing alot, but lets not get carried away.

The overall lineup would need a strong shooting percentage, or the fourth line never gets played. I can't see it happening.

Not in the slightest. I think I saw him throw two body checks in his four years in Nashville. A lot of die-hards - myself included - bear a strong dislike of Arnott for that and several other reasons.

He's 37, all his speed is gone, and he hasn't surpassed 20 goals since 08-09, so this is probably his last stop. I could be wrong, but I wouldn't expect much from him. Or Langenbrunner, for that matter.

The point was they all have the skill sets or career numbers to put up 20 goals in the right situation, that's exactly the kind of depth you want; guys who can pick up where the injured player left off even if its at a slower pace or a different style.

I don't know why anyone would take that as a literal projection for the year.

Amazing the money Arnott has stolen from the GMs over the years based on past successes. Even having the fortune to get 2.5 is roberry, it's too much for him. Oh he's big and has had some skills! lol The guy has been garbage, he's been pretty much finished for the last 5 years. Edmonton knew this from way back.
