Marek to join Sportsnet family
@JeffMarek
Jeff Marek
This morning I signed a deal to join Rogers Sportsnet to work in their hockey department on TV, radio and digital. Very excited about the opportunity to work with this great team. Will be on Prime Time Sports at 5:40ET this afternoon.

Well an upgrade at the least, but still.. Maclean, Kypreos, Millard (to a lesser extent) are all painful.

Finally someone that's respectable is on Sportsnet. Does this mean he'll be part of the panel for Leafs games?

Marek is great, and pretty funny guy on twitter as well.
His talents were wasted at the iDesk or whatever that is on CBC.

Could this possibly be my dream coming true?
No more segments with Marek and Morrison reading tweets from fans?
One can dream.

Regarding the I-desk, I love when Cherry said to Maclean "Is this what we have been reduced to??" What a ridiculous segment. Scott Morrison is/was completely wasted there. A true insider, and presents/speaks so well, and he is on the I-desk. He should be a regular on Hotstove.

I actually really like Kipper and Millard but Maclean needs to take his ego-centric assanine bumbling elsewhere. Hopefully Marek replaces him!

I met the guy, he's really nice. Talked about possible trades. Good for him.

Jeff Marek leaving Leafs lunch marked the end of that show. He and Morrison were wasted on the Idesk, but then again the first intermission spot was being wasted on Cherry.
I wish Marek well on sportsnet!!

I guess he didn't want to gut it out for another decade to take over Ron MacLean's position as HNIC host. That was the plan.
Looks like we're stuck with Friedman. FML

I used to like Leafs Lunch, but Watters kept getting more and more preposterous. Marek is OK by me.

Totally agreed. Morrison is up there with the best as an insider. I still remember the days when the TO Sun Sports pages were the #1 place for Hockey all due to Morrison.

I agree with this. It felt very low budget and out of place relative to everything else.
