Alot of positive things being said about Blacker and Gardiner. With guys like Holzer, Mikus and Gysbers waiting in the wings aswell I think we're done with defensive depth. Now for an elite forward....

FYI this has been talked about in length in the prospects thread. Just a heads up if you want more information.

Just going to post this. Very excited for both Gardiner and Blacker. I feel we have a strong mix of quality and quantity with our defensive prospects.

It's great Gardiner is signed to an entry level contract. Let's us have him as a bargain for a few years.

I think if him and/or Blacker can be ready by next year, Liles won't be resigned, freeing up money to ink Grabo and Kulemin

future is:

Phaneuf
Schenn
Aulie
Franson
Gunnarson
Gardiner

Blacker
Holzer
Mikus

we could definitely make one expendable for an elite forward.

Seriously, how did the Leafs manage to turn Beauch + Lebda = Lupul + Gardiner + Franson + Lombardi.

that's what happens when you have 5 smart people running your club

i love all the talk about mlse being cheap and only caring about money. they've opened up their pocket books to give us the best gm team money can buy, as well as scouting, and it's paying off!

When were they ever cheap? They always spent on the hockey team.

Also, and most importantly, being a franchise with massive fan support that allows a team to effectively take on salary dumps (Lupul, Lombardi) and ask for prospects in return (Gardiner, Franson).

Let Gardiner play a full year with the Marlies and develop properly, fill out his frame. He'll be a beauty next year.

that's the most common argument you hear by leaf haters, and some delusional fans.

they say the MLSE only care about the bottom line, and don't care about putting a winning product on the ice.

Let the prospects keep building up.

It's exciting to finally see the shelves fill up with quality prospects that have a chance to make an impact.

This is the reason why I am extremely HAPPY. There is no way we rush him when there are players that do the job well right now.

No one knew Subban would be so good (I hate him, but he's damn good) but he developed and came into the scene at the right time.

Gardiner is a great prospect and he should play in the AHL for a year and then come up. He already skates better than pros, he'll fill out and rack up some points down there.

Exciting time to be a Leaf fan with all the prospects we have.

I don't know about ya'll but I was half embarrassed watching buddy comparing poor Gardiner to Keith and Neidermayer. Hey kid, no pressure.
