Jason Gregoire to WPG

The hometown kid just landed with the team he grew up watching, he is officially a Jet.

I can't hate on him too much for trying to better his life.

However, he will always be a traitor to me so I want him to fail, miserably.

He was a nice second tier prospect for us so you guys got a nice addition to the farm.

Seems to have opted out of playing for the Islanders. Great move either way, we got a good prospect for virtually nothing.

Ya, the best part for you guys is that he is NHL ready right now and could even challenge for a spot with the big club right out of training camp.

This deal has Zinger written all over it. He'll be in Nfld so you may get a chance to see him if he comes your way and you can tell him you think.

People were saying that he might have been the most NHL ready player in all of the NCAA last year, even more so than his teamate Matt Frattin. Over the 2nd half of the season for UND he was absolutely dominant. Plays a suberb two- way game and is very defensively sound.

Scouting tips on what we should expect from him?
I've heard a little bit about him and have a pretty good feel for the guy, but I'm sure you're way more familiar with him.

very nice addition! seen him play this year - he's more ready than most of our draft picks.

I'd hope so, he was drafted in '07 , hopefully he comes in this year and plays for the big club.

The guy I can most compare him to up to this point is Travis Zajac. He is extremely sound defensively and has a very nice offensive side to his game. When Zajac came out, I never thought he would be a top line center and thought his peak was a 2nd liner. I am thinking the same thing about Gregs for a lot of the same reasons. Although I do view Jason as a bit more of a goal scorer. There isn't one part of his game that is amazing, but he is just very sound at a lot of different parts of his game.

It will be interesting to see if he can reach expectations.

He got off to a slow start this last year because he was playing injured. When he got healthy he scored something like 26 points in the last 14 games.

Does he make the team this year? If so, our natural LW depth looks like:

Ladd
Kane
Gregoire
Glass
