We can give Alzner 16 million over 4 years.

What's the trade anyway? Gorges and Kristo for Alzner? Gorges and a 1st?

Do it - then move Semin to Phoenix for Kyle Turris.

Apparently #habs put the following offer on the table: A.Kostitsyn+ Weber+1st for Semin+rights to Alzner. Ball in #caps court?

At this Point i'm pretty sure that in the head of most GMs Gorges > Alzner.

Caps will have to play with Semin in their face whenever they play the Habs.

There's a big difference between Alzner and Alzner's rights. Even if he's an RFA. He's still technically unsigned for next season.

How much would we have to give to get Semin?

Ohh hai. That was a joke within a serious comment.

I just don't see him going to the KHL.

He'd probably already be signed if the Caps were not in cap trouble.

Wow...I don't even like Semin and I'm positive he'd be here for only 1 year anyways, but I'd do this deal. A Kost is probably gone next year anyways, so the deal is basically Weber and a 1st for Alzner and I'd be pretty inclined to make that move.

He has a European sounding name but he's Canadian. No way he goes overseas.

Alzner is not worth Weber + a 1st, that would be us getting hosed big time(see Kessel for 3 picks). The 1st is moreso to offset the difference from AK to Semin.

People are overrating Alzner because he went #5 overall, he isn't that calibre of player.

It's not like he's a threat to go to the KHL... IMO Alzner's trade value is pretty much the same as if he was signed. Same as if Pacioretty was traded immediately after the season, before signing his contract.

Now it was apparently for Semin......and the involving the Capitals........and likely would not be involving Gomez.
Couldn't I have predicted as much? There's a big trade going to happen, folks.....and when it doesn't work out.....I slowly drift into the background.

Are you in the correct thread, it is for unreliable sources only, not solid media outlets. Whether or not he is good at calling trades or not does not matter in here.

There is nobody in our d-corps that is the type of player Alzner is. He's big, he's tough, he hits, and he's very solid defensively. He's also 22 years old. Weber has been a fringe d-man for a while now, and while I like him, he is more of the same (small, skilled, speedy). He gets pushed off the puck easily.
