I got little to no expectations from Cole on the PP. If he can score 5 on the PP this year I'll be happy. What I wanna see tho is him destroying on 5on5.

Anyway we have a lot of people able to score on the powerplay. Subban, Markov, Cammalleri, Gionta, Plekanec, Kostytsin and Pacioretty. We still have guys who could be good on the PP too with Eller, Desharnais, Gomez, Darche, Weber and Emelin. Cole is not here to help our powerplay, he's here to help us at 5 on 5.

pretty much. On the other hand, our PP always been a key to our play while the Canes nvr rly had a stellar 1. Maybe Cole will become a PP weapon of mass d. who knows lol

Haha yeah, playing with 2 great offensive defenseman could be great for him. If he's good at deflecting shots he will have fun with Markov and Subban. For once we will not only have Gionta who can touch puck in mid-air. Seems like the habs dont score very often on ''on purpose'' deflecting shots.

I don't know if this had been reported yet, but Elliotte Friedman reported in his "30 thoughts" CBC column yesterday the following bit about the Cole signing:

Quote:
Sounds like Erik Cole was set to go back to Carolina for three years, even at slightly less money than Montreal was offering. Then, Pierre Gauthier added a fourth season and the Hurricanes backed off. That was the difference.
Stamkos, Lightning lock-in, plus 30 thoughts

When the Habs signed Cole, I thought it was a little pricey and for one too many years, but nothing as ridiculous as some of the other signings on July 1. Given that they tried to sign Cole for 3 years but couldn't, I now think it is perfectly reasonable that they gave him a 4-year deal. He does fit in perfectly with what the Canadiens need up front.

Plus in 3 years, we lose Gionta, Gomez, Markov, Camellari. Bad idea to have one more contract ending in that summer, or we will be scrambling a lot in the UFA market.

^ I think we will make every effort to resign Cammy. He's still part of our young core IMO.

Just because their contracts are up doesn't mean we'll "lose" them. Gomez, as long as Eller keeps progressing I think he will move on. Gionta, I could see extending for a year or two, same as Cammy and Markov...although some may depend on the development of AK Pacioretty LeBlanc Kristo MacMillan Gallagher etc

Cammy would have been around 30-35 goals had he not gotten pretty serious injuries both years, playing 65 and 67 games.

This stat alone, will lead to more offence from his linemates....Cole Max and kosty all hitting the other dmen will cause more turnovers, and should make us a better 5 vs 5 team....
