sure hope this guy's wrong.

29 NEW YORK RANGERS
ANDREI VASILEVSKI, G, UFA 2 (RUS-JR)
SKINNY:
Russian netminder was outstanding at WJC, posting tourney-best .953 save percentage, 2 shutouts.

Don't want a goalie...and we should be picking 30th, no?

Anyone seen Zegmus Girgensons play? Playing in the USHL this year, committed to UVM, however it's still up in the air on whether or not he actually goes. PPG in the USHL. I've heard comparisons to Kopitar as far as his two way game and playing style. Anyone seen him play or know anything about him?

Since there's a supposed drop off in talent after the 20 pick and if we end up picking late in the first round, what do you know about Brian Hart, Phillips Exeter Academy? Rated 60th by NHL Central Scouting, mid-term. Another New England high school kid. Any first hand knowledge? Could be this years Chris Kreider. What do you guys think? http://dansallows.com/interview-brian-hart/

Hey, if he's the best prospect available at that spot, why not?

We should be drafting on getting the best assets, and who knows, if this guy pans out, it's nice to have an insurance policy behind Lundqvist.

I actually think it would be the smartest pick.

Since we will be picking somewhere between 28 and 30, I'd be looking for a trade back into the second round to pick up another second or third unless there is a targeted player available. Latest I've heard on the draft ios that top 15-20 are better than most years and then it drops off further than usual.

Goaltender is definitely on the radar. No reason not to pick one if BPA when the pick does come. It's going to be 3-4 years before arriving at MSG anyway.

I'd like Supersonic to chime in because he called Miller last year, but trying to think like Gordie Clark, it's going to be Matteau (plays with jam), Wilson (size), Kerdiles (aggresive) or maybe KoeKoek if he drops. You know, two way aggressive game with physicality, and a good chance they come from the US National Program. If Subban drops, maybe him but I doubt they go that route.

Meh... I wouldn't mind drafting a goalie - but not in the first two rounds unless you have a crazy reason to believe the guy will be a franchise player. Odds are that he would never start here, goalies trade values don't carry - and every goalie this regime has drafted/signed since Lundqvist has been EXTREMELY mediocre at best...

I agree 100% on BPA, but I will be extremely concerned if the Rangers grab a goalie in the first 2 rounds...

we aren't drafting a goalie in the first round. i don't care if it's the second coming of patrick roy...i just can't see it happening. i mean we're going to develop him for 4 years and then have him back up hank for another 3 or 4 years..perhaps more? that sounds like a terrible idea. you want to take a goalie in the 3rd or 4th round, fine. but we have a couple years before we need to start thinking about our next starting netminder.

Goalies take a good amount of time to develop. If Hank's not showing any signs of declining maybe 5 years down the road we just ship him to CBJ for their top 5 pick in the 2017 draft lol

Irbe was the most exciting goalie to watch because you never knew what he would do next. Dude played the puck like a madman.

If Kerdiles is on the board he has to be our pick. Kid is underrated.

So nobody has any first hand information on Brian Hart. Could be a good late 1st round or very good 2nd. ??????

Given the way the Rangers addressed the deficiencies at center in last year's draft, I am fully comfortable more than ever to go BPA in the upcoming draft. However, if the right-handed equivalent of MDZ is available when the Rangers select, I would not at all be disappointed if the Rangers went that route. I'd like to see the depth at RD get built up to where it is at LD.

One guy I'd like to see the Rangers grab is Nick Ebert. Guy has been under a microscope since he was 14 years old. His draft stock has decreased since he's looking like he won't be the consensus top 5 pick everyone thought he was going to be, even though he is putting up modest numbers. Right handed shot, great puckmover.

I honestly think they will not be picking in either the 1st or 2nd round this year. I see them trading both for an upgrade and that last piece.

We lost Shinnimin to the Yotes.

Sure glad we thought Missiaen was worth a contract, though.

Im sticking to the player I mentioned in the summer.

Nicolas Kerdiles.

He will be going to Wisconsin in the fall.

To be honest I haven't followed any of these guys like I usually do. Been way too busy this winter.

I still like Kerdiles. Miller/Kreider mold. Size, skill, character. And will be going to a great hockey program of which the Rangers have had luck with (Stepan & McDonagh). I would HOPE if we did select him, that Clark and Gorton let him make HIS OWN decision where he wants to play. Instead of pushing the CHL on him like they did to Miller. Im not 100% sold that the CHL helped Miller in any way other than padding stats.

Draft Kerdiles if he's there. Let him go to Wisconsin and play against older more mature players in the NCAA and build his body up.

He has a high-end shot.

Phil DiGiuseppe, LW, Michigan (CCHA)

6-1 200. Two way player. Strong on the puck. Sound defensively.

As a late first rounder he would be a very good pick. Much better than Frk and others mentioned on here. Still has a lot of development to do and Red Berenson is fantastic.

Or Cristoval “Boo” Nieves. Kent School(HS) in Connecticut

University of Michigan recruit

Quote:
“His skating is at an elite level already,” Cibelli said. “There are guys even at the show (NHL) that don’t skate as well. His two greatest assets are his hockey IQ and his hands. He simply makes guys around him better. He has a phenomenal feel for the game, and it is hard to just teach that.”

His playmaking abilities and size often draw comparisons to Boston College junior forward Chris Kreider (Boxford, Mass.), the New York Rangers’ 2009 first-round pick (19th overall) out of Phillips Andover.

“He simply in a nutshell makes the guys around him look better,” Cibelli said. “There are elements of his game that I think are better then Chris Kreider’s, and there are other elements of his game that he needs work on, but if you took the boards down both of those kids could skate from here to China. I don’t think there is that much of a difference between the two.”
