Something tells me the Rangers are pulling a Colts. Purposely losing every game and using Marc Staal (Peyton ManThing) as an excuse as to why, thus giving us the #1 pick, Nail Yakupov (Andrew Luck)
I dont think the Colts are losing purposely but I see what you are saying and I would be 50/50 if we did that to get Yakupov, because what if he turns out to be a David Carr ( see what I did there )
Some info on a player I've had my eye on since last season because of following JT Miller's development.
Nicolas Kerdiles. Wing primarily. 6-1, 190 ish. Great character, driven, winner, high skill level, high compete level, vision, strength, great release...whole package. Isn't Russian or Canadian, isn't in NCAA yet (committed to Wisconsin) so he's flying a bit under the radar. But ISS has him at 26 right now on their top 30.

If "Suckopov fo Yakupov" I won't shed a tear. I will be jumping for joy.
I honestly don't want to tank the season, but if we did end up sucking somehow like the Devils last year and got a top 5 pick, I'd be sad during the season, but I'd be looking so forward to the draft and us getting that elite prospect that we've been missing for so long.

Despite being as young as I am, I've learned to accept failure, so much that it disturbs my father. While he moped over the Rangers getting eliminated from the playoffs, I wrote a thread for the off season on his old board.
If we get 37 and 6, we can still end up with a lottery pick.
the devils also WON the lottery with an incredibly low percentage chance of winning it. That happens only rarely. Chances of that happening are slim and none. Otherwise they were going off at about 8.
You should think harder before you come out with any more "examples"
The Rangers will be in their same mediocre range they are always in. That 12-16 slot fighting until the last game of the year to get into the playoffs without Staal.

Good thing I like you.
I hate being brought back down to reality. It's less fun.
If Galchenyuk actually drops into the 8-10 range, the Rangers should put together a big package and pick him up. The best chance at getting a top 5 offensive talent they'll ever have. I'm drooling just thinking about it. He's so versatile. Can beat you in so many ways. A level of dynamism this organization sorely lacks.

Agreed 100%.
Watching him on Youtube, his playmaking abilities are absolutely unreal. This kid will be phenomenal and if we can find a way to snag him we need to do it. Nail is really the biggest pipe dream there is sadly. Galchenyuk may be a pipe dream as well because I expect him to go in the top 5 somewhere unfortunately.
I worry about trading up. Pavel Brendl and Jamie Lundmark didn't exactly pan out for the Rangers. The Rangers have been pretty good at finding gems later in the draft in recent years...

Not enough gems that we can ignore our huge LW gap in our top 6.
Injuries won't drop Galchenyuk. Brett Connolly was a veritable Gaborik of junior hockey and he "dropped" to 6th. Maybe depth of the draft drops him but I can't see it. Kid would be fantastic to have. Love that he's technically an American.
