Weber on Regehr "one of my heroes"

Between Myers naming him as his favorite dman as a kid and listening to Mike Weber gush about him just now in WGR. I'm excited to see the impact Regehr may have as a mentor to our young dmen.

Maybe he's begun searching for an heir to the 'Tunnel of Death'

I wonder if the Regher deal was partly a present for Tyler Myers, knowing that his contract negotiation is on the near horizon.

Gotta love a team that exudes confidence.

This Regehr trade is looking even tastier than I previously thought. Who knew we had so many young D that look up to this guy.

Or maybe he plans on re-injuring both of them... with Regehr.

Any other noteworthy quotes besides the obligatory "we wanted to hammer out a deal, avoid arbitration, I want to be in Buffalo"?

Maybe he knows something we don't know. Malkin to Buffalo for a Tim Horton's donut?

I think both of their contracts require that their names appear etched in gold.

-He gets married tomorrow.
-He has a cottage near Windsor and works out with Steve Ott who's his neighbor.
-And he's excited.

Myers ended Malkin's season once, maybe they intend to do it again. I'm glad to see the confidence Weber's showing, and I hope it translates into his game.

I'm not sure making him the actual captain will happen, despite the adulation, but certainly Ruff will want him to wear an "A".

I don't think this is such a bad thing. and besides, how long has it been since there has been a team in Buffalo for which 1) I think the argument can be made and not be altogether way off base. - I wouldn't say it, but I don't think its unsupportable. (it's not Pittsburgh by the way) and 2) we've seen a confident team like this.

and besides, I know the day before my wedding, I felt pretty good about everything too. so there's also that.

Yeah, there is talking the talk and then walking the walk. At least someone is talking the talk who we expect to walk the walk in the physical department. His hitting and shot-blocking will be huge, especially on that cap friendly deal. Web was also one of the first guys Regehr mentioned in his early interviews about being a mentor to the youngsters. If Web can emulate the whole "Tunnel of Death" thing on his pairing... yes please. Give those forwards a rough time and make them go somewhere else and a player is winning the space & time competition.
