From Aaron Portzline

Scouting report on Blunden? / Big, physical, checking winger. At best a 4th-liner at NHL level, and a good guy.

What's the story on Russell? Hopefully not a forward version of his brother.

Last year, Kris Russell had more points as a defenseman in the NHL than Ryan Russell had as a forward in the AHL.

I kind of like this deal. Blunden seems like he could possibly be ready for 4th line minutes soon and he does have good size. I wanted him in a deal I prosposed with Columbus.

I am not saying Blunden is going to be an all star or anything. Just think he could possibly play soon with the big club for 4th line.

Soft smaller player with decent wheels. Pretty good PKer I believe. Doubt he will ever be more than career AHLer. But he has never been given the chance. We will see.

He has been a key player on a contributing checking line for Hamilton for awhile. His presence is usually felt in the clutch, in the playoffs, etc. He seems to be quick and intelligent. But at his size, he had no future as a checking line player for the Habs. Nice for him to get a fresh start in a new organization, although presumably he is indeed there because it's his brother's team, nobody else was going to trade for him.

Blunden is a complete bust now but he had some potential. Ryan Russell is nothing.

I remember a few years ago when i said i wanted all of the chicago "b's"

Brouwer, Bolland, and Byfuglien turned out pretty well.

Blunden, not so much.

Speedy, hard working, great PKer, decent hands but is coming off a shaky season in Hamilton were he struggled to score. Will be missed in Hamilton especially on the PK.

Dont expect much

Never had shown much of anything with Jackets in his chances

AHL/NHL tweener

(Yeah, that says Sestito instead of Russell, but Blunden's much the same type of guy. )

There's the likely Pyatt replacement.

Blunden sounds so familiar for some reason. He play for the Giants?

Nope, guess I just watched him play in the NHL a couple times. I remember following the draft quite intensively around that times as well.

Not sure what you are getting at...Russell is way more like Pyatt than Blunden. No way Blunden is slated for the NHL roster.

budda, Blunden played at the WJC for Canada in 2006, that's probably why the name rings a bell.

This has been said for years about Blunden though... He used to have potential for more, but I agree that the 4th line potential at least should still be there.

I think the Jackest front office thought that Blunden wouldn't pass through waivers after getting cut in camp, so they figured to make a deal for a player that would.

I believe he played on Canada's world junior team in 06.

I like Blunden since he lit it up in the OHL for me in the first version of NHL EHM.
