Who would be Datsyuk's perfect partner?

I've heard some people talking about how Semin and Datsyuk would be absolutely lethal together. This got me thinking, if you could bring in any player (salaries, etc. not taken into account) to pair up with Dats who would it be?

Maybe it would be Kovalchuk, with some possible Russian chemistry there? Maybe it doesn't get any better than Pav and Hank?

Ovechkin, hands down.

Dastyuk would create the space, and Ovechkin would have slam dunks every time. They'd be the highest scoring forward duo... ever.

If I have to pick one, I'd go with Ovechkin....arguably one of the best scorers in the game...the two of them together might be unstoppable...

Having said that, he makes everyone he plays with that much better...so anyone with talent like a Semin/Kovalchuk/Malkin/Crosby playing with Pav would be amazing...

I'm a part of the group that thinks Z is better on his own though...but that's just me lol

LOL at the notion of Ovechkin. They wouldn't have the greatest chemistry. Ovechkin is a puckhog who shoots it everytime he gets it. He is extremely predictable. He may be changing a little, but this is not the ideal winger for Datsyuk. If Ovechkin stopped trying to be a one man show, that may change, but for now...

I think the ideal winger would be a big smart forward who goes to the dirty areas. Someone who doesn't handle the puck too much as well. Doan? Nash?

Datsyuk and Nash would be dirty together.

Last year was a big change for him, he definitely changed his game from being a puckhog/one man show...and you pretty much proved my point, he has a killer shot and once he gets a pass from Pav he should shoot it everytime because more than likely it will go in.

And I can't believe you called Doan smart...and even putting him in the same comparative sentence as Nash is ridiculous lol

Kovalchuk, Ovechkin or Stamkos.

As for a non-active player I'd say Pavel Bure.

Non Red Wing: Kovalchuk. I was getting goosebumps watching the Kovalchuk-Datsyuk-Malkin line playing together at the WC.

Red Wing: Zetterberg. They have yet to achieve that 2008 kind of chemistry, but they showed glimpses of it during the season and it was a sight to behold.

All-time player: Bure?

Ovie was much less selfish this year, and has played a much bigger team game as of late.

However, I think it's someone who has to be good without the puck...

Brett Hull.

Ok fine, give me Stamkos. Datsyuk dishing to him would be better than MSL.

I'd go with Stamkos. It's easy to choose a fellow Russian sniper (Ovy/Kovy) but I think Stamkos has a equally good shot, plus he still has room to improve.

Ya he has a great shot, but just because you have a great shot you shouldn't shoot it everytime you get it. That has been Ovechkin's problem in the playoffs almost every year. He wasn't effective against defensive teams that could zero in on him like the Habs and Rangers because he was so predictable. This year he started playing a little smarter, passing it more, and it showed in the playoffs.

But Doan is a smart player. Very respectable, love the guy. Why would you think otherwise?

I hate him, but Heatley would probably score 50 with Datsyuk.

Remember when Barry Melrose said Heatley would score 70 with Thornton?

Anyway, as for Datsyuk's perfect partner...I'd probably say Darryl Bootland or Ryan Barnes.
