Ducks 2011-12 Roster Discussion

So, using the current list of signed forwards and prospects/minor leaguers, what do you think the offensive lines will be?

These lists are according to Ducks website.
Signed Ducks Forwards:
Ryan Getzlaf (C)
Corey Perry (RW)
Bobby Ryan (LW)
Jason Blake (LW)
Saku Koivu (C)
George Parros (RW)
Brandon McMillan (C)
Matt Beleskey (LW)
Jean-Francois Jacques (LW)
Dan Sexton (RW)
3 C
3 RW
4 LW

Signed Prospects/Minor leaguers:
Josh Brittain (LW)
Nicolas Deschamps (C)
Emerson Etem (RW)
Peter Holland (C)
Matt Kennedy (RW)
Maxime Macenauer (C)
Patrick Maroon (LW)
Brian McGrattan (RW)
Devante Smith-Pelly (RW)
Andrew Gordon (RW)
Andrew Cogliano (C)

4 C
5 RW
2 LW

Here is the CapGeek list so you can check my mistakes (I'm sure there are many).

Let me know if I missed anyone, or if I included someone that is no longer under contract.

Based on a lineup without Selanne or any other additions I would try:

Beleskey-Getzlaf-Perry
McMillan-Koivu-Ryan
Blake-Bonino-Etem
Jacques/Gordon-Macanauer-Parros
Holland/DSP/Palmieri

Welp

From what i've heard of DSP he could play great with the twins, but I really wouldn't expect a kid to go from the CHL to 1st line duty overnight no matter how well he may fit in. Without Teemu RPG needs to be broken up if for no other reason than to spread out minutes. I would rather loose effectiveness than stay dominant but eventually get burned out by April.

Sexton will have a contract which based on his numbers will be a 1-way after arbitration. For anyone disagreeing it will be a 1 way Beleskey has 14G 14A 28P in 95 games on the 1st and 3rd lines vs 13G 19A 32P in 88 games on the 2nd and 3rd lines. There's no way an arbitrator doesn't give him a 1 way contract.

No idea if the Ducks sign the contract, however.

I'll put Sexton in once he has a contract.

I don't believe in Teemu not coming back, leaving the bottom lines as the only ones in question.

DSP/MacMillan - MacMillan/Holland/Bonino - Palmieri/Maroon/Gordon/Etem
Jacques - Macenauer/Bonino - Parros

There's just way too many possibilities as of now. I consider the first mentioned more likely than the following, but really, as of now, there's no way to really tell. It's definitely not like there isn't upside.

It's way too early to start speculating about lines. The bottom 6 is a complete crapshoot atm as we have no idea if there will be any additions or what rookies will impress enough to win spots in training camp.

With our current players under contract and the RFA's:

Beleskey - Getzlaf - Perry
Blake - Koivu - Ryan
Smith-Pelly - Macenauer - McMillan
Jacques - Bonino - Parros
(Sexton)

Fortunately that's not the bottom six we'll end up with, and hopefully Selanne will be alright.

Hearings will be held from July 20 to August 4, 2011.

It'll screw up everyone's lists in 3 weeks!

There are several RFA's that I didn't include, simply because what they get signed for, and if they get a 1 or 2 way contract can completely alter the team makeup. I went for signed players because they are known quantities.

My god that bottom-six is truly awful. Could bring more balance to disrupt the RPG-line, but I don't know if I want to do that.

Gratts finished strong last year, looks like one of us will have to learn to play center, ha! Unless @b_ryan9 wants to ditch his lineys?

Can't believe so many of you have Etem in the lineup. I think he definitely needs at least a year more to develop.

Belesekey-Getzlaf-Perry
Blake-Koivu-Ryan
DSP-McMillan-Sexton
Maroon-Bonino-Parros
Jacques

Playoff?!? you wanna talk about playoffs?!?

Right Now

Ryan-Getzlaf-Perry
Blake-Koivu-Sexton
Beleskey-McMillan-Gordon
Jacques-Bonino-Parros

Opening Day, I think we see something like:

Ryan-Getzlaf-Perry
Blake-Koivu-Selanne
McMillan-XXXXXXX-Gordon/UFA
Beleskey-Bonino-Parros

I can see Bob resigning Teemu, and signing1 solid 3rd line guy through trade, and bringing in 1 or 2 depth FA "reclamation projects" or just unsigned guys, ala Vellieux and they will fight for a third line spot.

It's time I chip in.

Beleskey-Getzlaf-Perry
Blake-Koivu-Ryan
Maroon-McMillan-Gordon
Jacques-Deschamps-Parros

I'd like to see Maroon and Gordon given a shot in the NHL. At this point I think the Ducks' best shot might just to be to throw guys until they stick. Maroon and Gordon have both been productive AHLers, and McMillan is quick, so they might click, and be a decent line. I know Gordon hasn't been able to make the jump, but Maroon has played no NHL games to my knowledge. At least this might be something to try in pre-season.

Why does Etem need another year just curious? I don't mind if he stays one more year but I don't see why it's a must. I'd like to hear your reasoning? What does he have to improve on in WHL? He's physically ready. His skating is second to none. He played top line minutes. Improved on his point total and goal scoring. Went from a +8 last year to a +41 this year. Developed a better offensive game showing he can create for himself. His defensive game increased mightily.

^ So I don't understand why he needs at least one more year. Would it be nice? Sure... Is it necessary? Not at all!

Funny how the Ducks seem to have done so much more with a lot less. Remember the 2003 Stanley Cup Finals team? 75% of the lineup would be considered 3rd and 4th line forwards and bottom pairing defensemen.

Then J.S. Giguere.

I wish we won that cup, it would have been one of the sweetest ever in the history of the NHL.

I think if no more real moves are made (except Teemu) this is what we see:

Ryan-Getzlaf-Perry
Blake-Koivu-Selanne
McMillan-Bonino-Beleskey
Parros-Macenauer/UFA-Gordon
