I wouldn't be opposed to putting in a claim on White since he's on waivers. Can send Gervais to Norfolk then MAB and Gilroy can take turns sitting.

No point claiming him on waivers, that just helps New Jersey out of a hole. He would be available as a free agent when they buy him out for much less than he is on now.

I can live without Colin White.

You're the type to buy whatever is on sale at the store, aren't you?

April Weiner gave the Bolts an A

"Grade: A

Explanation: After making it to the Eastern Conference finals in their first playoff berth in a few years, the Tampa Bay Lightning didn't need to make a lot of changes this offseason. Just retain as much as possible.

The team retained the most important players and re-signed Steven Stamkos to a five-year deal. That's a successful summer"

http://*******************/articles/...so-far/page/27

Most teams got a B

Id say we did everything we possibly could. Bringing Brewer and obviously Stammer back were huge to keep us at least where we were last year.

What would it take to get Hedman to the Leafs? Schenn, Kadri ++?

Schenn, Kadri, Kessel, Reimer, 1st's in 2012 and 2013 and conditional 2nds in 2012 and 2013 (if Schenn signs in Tampa for under $4million caphit you keep the 2nds if he signs for over $4million caphit we get the 2nds).

Schenn, a 2nd round pick, and an agreement that Toronto would change their logo from a maple leaf to a pine needle.

Joke of the day

"NHL Free Agency: The 5 Best, Worst, Overrated and Underrated Signings"

"Underrated: Mike Smith, Phoenix Coyotes"

"the team nabbed Mike Smith to a short term deal with a minimal cap hit. Smith performed well in the postseason for the Tampa Bay Lightning, so there is some upside in this signing for Phoenix"

I actually wanted Smith back, although it would have been a little risky and Garon is a fine backup. Since December, Smith was playing extremely well and it looked like he was back to his pre-concussion form. The upside with him is certainly higher than that of Garon, but consistency was no doubt the issue. I hope he does well in Phoenix.

Moncton has four players who will attend NHL training camps. Hrivik will be joined by defenceman Brandon Gormley in Phoenix. The others are defenceman Daniel Milan with the Tampa Bay Lightning and left winger Olivier D'Aoust with the Dallas Stars.

Gormley was a first-round pick in the 2010 NHL draft. Milan and D'Aoust were both invited as free agents.

Why is Dimitri Bezrukov (still/again?) listed as pipeline player on the Lightning page? 33 year old who was drafted in '01 and played is last game in 06/07 according to HockeyDB.com.

Anton But also who was once traded for one of the biggest whipping boys in Lightning history. I'm pretty sure they are no longer "in the pipeline" and that's assuming Yzerman even decided to learn of their existence.
