LOL Brooks. Always *****ing about something.

I don't recall him complaining about the "very generous" offers to Gomez and Drury when they were signed, yet he complains about this.

But just because he wouldnt be a #1 on all teams does not mean he is not firmly in the category of #1 center.
Malkin is better then every player you listed except for Crosby

He's better offensively than Datsyuk, but Pavel is the best defensive forward in the world. And he's a point-per-game guy. I'll take him over Malkin any and every day of the week.

Crosby
Datsyuk
Malkin

That's how it goes.

Anyway, Brooks can shut the **** up. Good terms for Arty and i'm glad we got him and Sauer on the typical Rangers 2nd pro contract. Now get Dubi and Cally done!

He sure is right about Anisimov disappearing down the stretch (and for other large swaths of the season). I dont think the terms are too much out of whack, but it is a bit generous as Brooks notes.

And a "great" two way game? Some of you guys really need to re-assess how you use superlatives....like how Sather has done "excellent" post-lockout. Sheesh.

Anyone complaining about this being "generous" is off their mark. Anisimov will probably be a 50+ point center with a good two-way game for both years of the deal, and might produce more than that. That's a bargain at 1.875M and I expect good things from AA. Good deal.

Yeaaaaah Sather!

Doing it right.. maaaan... doin' it right!

Sauer, Anisimov, Now Dubi and Cally and we can go after that PMD or even see if there is a trade out there for that upper echelon LW'er.

I know Sather said he will look from within for the LW'er but if we have enough cap space and havent bought out Wolski yet, than I see a bigger style trade in the near future

Who is a PMD on a UFA this year? I dont think many left at all right? Just scrubs?

If so, it will need to be by trade. And I really feel Sather will pull all the stops out and go for it this year. He didnt sign Brad Richards just to have a mediocre team play. He wants to win the Cup and it looks like New York is kicking up the tempo a bit to get it done.

ITS A GOOD TIME TO BE A RANGERS FAN.. ALL THOSE RELENTLESS YEARS OF FIGHTING WITH DEVILS FANS, ISLANDERS FANS.. NOW IT COMES TO FRUITION. Can my Rangers really be close to a CUP?!

I THINK IT IS A PERFECT CONTRACT.. SATHER IS SHREWD ON RFA'S.. I BELIEVE THIS IS A GOOD MOVE FOR BOTH PARTIES.

Now A.A. get your butt in gear and get 60+ points next year! woot woot

The quality of defensive play from our forwards such as Anisimov, Dubinsky, Callahan, Fedotenko, and so on was a big factor in why our young defensemen made such a smooth transition.

Anisimov was consistently the 3rd defenseman when the BAR line was on, which allowed Dubi and Cally to play deeper and more physically. He basically pulled the line together. All you have to do is look at Dubi and Cally's production with White as a center, Stepan as a center, and AA as a center, and it'll be clear how much he helps those two players.

When Pack line is on the ice, most people watch Dubi and Cally. While it might be completely justified, I always keep an eye on Artem and just have to marvel when he plays defense in all three zones.

Very happy with both today's RFA signings!!!

When you look at the contracts recently signed by similar players--Wayne Simmonds, for example--why would anyone label Anisimov's deal as generous? It's right in line with what you would expect him to get. I don't understand the "generous" complaint.

Pretty much exactly what I figured he'd get. Good player with plenty of room to get better, about market rate for that type. Glad to see guys getting signed

I guess some people, and I'm not one of them, would've preffered Sather squeeze Anisimov down a bit for the insignificant cap space rather than actually reward a player for developing nicely on pace and doing pretty much what's been asked of him. I like it all around.

Love how Sather is establishing a precedent with Rangers RFAs. Gives kids coming through the system some sense of expectations and benchmarks. I know I do better at my job when I know exactly what I'm working towards.

Fair enough but is it really a "generous" deal? Seems like a bit more than fair market value to me. And I mean a bit. Maybe a little kick for being a good soldier and progressing nicely. I'm not projecting to what he can or might be in the future. I think he's actually being paid for what he is. A change of pace from the usual over-payment for what players have accomplished elsewhere.

It's generous because Artem had no bargaining chips on the table. No arbitration rights or anything. Coulda maybe got him for a bit less if we held out.

Still not complaining I think it's an okay deal, just trying to clarify what Brooks meant.
